Guest guest
Ouch, Deb, but you are doing great. Here's hoping that each time the pain will be less. Thanks for the update....Makes me want to practice more of those "on the stomach, bend back" exercises now before my surgery. I do some now, both standing kickbacks and laying down. Wonder if it will help later? I think that is a weak point for many. Keep up the great work. Don't get me wrong, my new PT is nice...but she makes me do different exercises because they have equipment there and I don't have it at home of course. The worst was when I had to lay on my stomach and bend my knee back up towards my butt. OH MAN!!!!!!!! Two sets of ten. When I started off my bend was 65, but at the end it was at 76...so I progressed. And I have to do them 3 times a day at home too??!! I go back again today, and then tomorrow.....I dread the thought of those on-my-stomach-bending-it-back exercise again...oh did they make me cry And this was after I'd taken one of my Vicodin too. I have to say the manipulation did help. This PT is alot of work!!!!Deb Talk is cheap. Use Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min. Guest guest
Okay the computer ate that I seen it did that as I hit send. So back tracked and got it back so here we go lets try this again. Deb--Keep up the great work. You can do it. No pain no gain. Just remember all the things you want to do. Go for a long walk, throw the ball for the dog, sit in a car for a long time, swim, bike ride... Maybe as a treat after you go to the PT spoil yourself by getting your toe nails painted. Or buy the stuff and get a friend to help you paint them. Marcia--I have no idea if it helps or not to do them before you go in. But it is good to be in the best shape you can. If you can try Aqua fit, shallow end. I have found it fun and great to do. You can work at your own speed. Working out in the water has less pressure on the joints, and they stretch and do the same sort of bringing the foot up to the butt, and other good knee bending. When do you go in? Well I am off again to make another batch of wonton soup. Thought I made enough on Monday turned out that I didn't double batch today. Guest guest
Thank you for the advice on the aqua fit. I used to work in a building with a pool for many years so I did regular water aerobics daily for about 10 yrs and it is the best exercise. I have missed it so much since moving. I hope to be able to join a new health club nearby which has a shallow pool (I loved the deep water exercise). They do not have the classes when I can attend but i could make up my own routine. Wonton soup sounds yummy! Marcia Larsen <Busterchi@...> wrote: Okay the computer ate that I seen it did that as I hit send. So back tracked and got it back so here we go lets try this again. Guest guest
It is a lot of work Deb, but also the only way you can help yourself recover. the more you do them the easier they will get. Even if you only do 5 each time at home - do them. I was lucky I had people make me practice what I preach. But I always did the full number. Guest guest
I was just telling my friend that with all these at home exercises I did today I'm so sore I don't know how I'm gonna get thru therapy today. My doc wants me to ride the stationary bike 4x a day for 10 minutes, and I have to do the exercises my old PT gave me, I think I do like 8 different kinds of those...and now 3 different new ones three x daily from my new PT. It's only 2PM and I am beat...and I have my PT appointment at 4PM!! And I haven't even done all I'm supposed to do....how in the heck am I supposed to do all of these exercises??!! This seems like an awful lot of in home stuff to do, as well as going to therapy 3 x's a week too. Did you guys have this much in home stuff to do too? Guest guest
It is quite daunting at first, but it is worth the effort Deb. Perhaps on the days you go to therapy you take it a little easier. Don't forget to take the pain meds though. Guest guest
God Morning, Deb, Wow, you have a full schedule with all the exercise but you will be super woman very soon....stronger than steel. Just the fact that you are trying to do all the recommended moves is inspiring to me. I leave this morning for my trip to Baltimore and the Sheep & Wool festival. I will be staying with my brother and wife and am sure it will be lots of fun. I will buy lots of beautiful yarn for more knitting projects . I was thinking that I would knit during my recovery from the RTKR but sounds like there will be no time to knit!. LOL Keep up the food work. Be back on Tues.
