Guest guest
So today I was driving my 2 sone through the wild animal safari here in TX, near my house, and the Zebras got a bit feisty and started trying to rip the bag of feed right from my hand, causing me to sort of panic and rip it back, causing all the feed to spill all over the floorboard by my feet. So when we get to the next set of animals, I bent at the waist with one hand on the wheel, feeling around on the floor, trying to pick up some feed. I'm 5 weeks post-op from my total hip replacement and as I was in this position, I felt a really wierd, semi-painful feeling happening in my hip region, almost as if perhaps I was on the very edge of dislocating. All I know is I sat back up and stretched out my leg as best as I could and didn't do that again for the rest of the ride. Back home, I was limping more than I am in the middle of the day. Usually the limping creeps back in around 7PM or so. The muscles around my hip and back are achey as well. I decided to call the Dr. but first decided to change shorts, for whatever reason. In doing so, I decided to check on my scars. I have two small scars, one on the top/back of my rump area, and the other is right at the groin, pretty much connecting to the end of my C-section scar. Well, this scar on my groin felt a bit 'moist' up near the top, not to be gross, so I decided to get a better look. The scars are basically healed, or so I thought, despite still being a deep reddish purple, the skin itself is closed and very thick. The top of this one scar, however, is now sort of opened, without being opened, if that makes any sense. I know what the scar had looked like before, and now, instead, it's shaped different at the top, sort of flat and opened whereas the rest of the scar is still the same. In addition to this new look, there was a tiny white string, which was no doubt a stitch, peeking through a little hole. So I pulled it with some tweezers and it came out, unattached to anything. My stitches were dissolvable, but two weeks post-op I'd "spit" one out, per the Dr. and he told me to simply snip it. This is why I felt no fear in doing so again. Anyway, I did call the Dr. to ask her if I'd totally screwed myself up and she did seem a bit concerned when I mentioned to her the moist area and the thing w/ the stitch...she told me to "dress it" and gave me the name of the on-call Dr. for the weekend and she started to work me into the calender for Tuesday. Noticing that I have my 6 week appt. set for this coming Thursday we left it at that, unless something arises between now and then. Yikes. I guess I'm telling all of you this in case anyone has ever had something similar happen? WIth the bending thing and/or popping a stitch? ALso, I wanted to let you guys know how easily it can happen, when we think we're healed up....here I thought I was at the tail end of everything, and I've still got stitches that can be popped? I'm a little worried about what I've done, because I've been making good progress thus far and then I go and do something like this. Damn Zebra.
