I didn't get to finnish! He is having a really hard

time at school. Failing Math. He will more than

likely not be able to " graduate " with his 8th grade

class because of this. Of corse he will go to high

school but still it is a big deal. (maybe more for me

than him) He does not let us help at all with his

work and carries the burden his self. His teacher does

not understand but that is also because I have not

required any special cercomstances for him. I have

talked to her but she treats him like any other

student.Schools almost out 6/22. So if we ca n just

keep the depression under control. Next year we will

seek help for him in his classes. Vivian in Wa. St.

Lizzie,

I think you will find this article very useful. It also

translates " Asana " to " Med Speak " , so your surgeon will be better able

to advise you. The article references particular surgical techniques

in relationship to specific asanas and precautions.

http://www.yogajournal.com/practice/596_1.cfm

The article is by Cole who is based at the Iyengar yoga center,

North County Yoga center in Solana Beach California

This is important because there are different surgical methods used

and these actually have opposite precautions. The more common and

prevalent method, creates the famous " 90 degree rule " but other

surgical approaches, bending over that way is actually a prescribed

exercise (it was for me). However other methods are more

precautionary. Its all in that article.

I think that one can and should practice yoga after hips but do so

conservatively. Don't go to extremes that involve the hips and might

make the artificial joint " Hyper mobile " . This article will give

you very good tools to discuss with your surgeon EXACTLY what is good

and not so good. As with all things post-op, being especially

careful and not pushing will give you the best chance of long term

success.

Good Luck.
