Hi Deb,

Good luck with your manipulation. I was supposed to have it done but didn't have the guts!! I respect and admire you for that. I was too scared and 1 1/2 yrs. later I can only bend 95 degrees.

Regards. Joy

-- Knee Manipulation Needed!!!

I just received a call from my OS's assistant that I have to have my knee manipulated on Tuesday morning. I am so upset!! I told her I feel like such a failure. She said they know I'm trying my best, doing my PT and everything. But because of my 3 prior surgeries, and all the hardware they had to remove during my TKR that it is more difficult for me to get the bend I'm needing. Now I have scar tissue built up. But she says I'll be amazed at the bend I'll be able to have afterwards. I sure hope so.......I'll be put under with gas for the process, and will be pretty sore afterwards she says. I don't know how long till I'll be back going to PT. I forgot to ask that part. Tomorrow I have to go for another pre-op, no blood work or EKG though.I am just not taking this too well :( Deb

Thanks Joy....

See, this is exactally why I didn't want to have it done. I am

scared to death too. I wish I knew somone who's had it done so I

could at least get some first hand knowledge of what happens. The

doctor's office makes it sounds like a walk in the park...

I didn't even think of telling them no. I guess you have more guts

than I do!!! But right now, I think I've gone from 90 degrees 2

weeks ago to 70 the other day. Not sure what's going on.

Debby..

They tell me since my knee isn't bending well on it's own, they'll

force it to bend for me. They'll put me under with a little gas so I

won't feel it...thank goodness....bend it back and forth to break up

the scar tissue that's now formed, put me in the recovery room for a

bit, and send me on my way. I just spoke to my PT a few minutes ago

and he assures me I'll be ok and lots of folks have this done. He

says I'll be sore afterwards, to take my vicodine, and to keep ice

packs on it for the day. My doctor will probably have me start PT

again right away, I guess within a day.

I still am scared of having YET another procedure done to my poor

knee...this makes number 5.

Hi Deb, Just thinking of you today. When are you having the bending procedure done? I think you will be happy you did it. After a night of awful knee pain last night, I once again am so happy I am having the TKR on June 27. I really wonder why the pain comes on so sharply at night. Take care and breathe! Hi Jan,

Thanks for your post. I'm having my knee manipulation done in the

morning and I'm kinda nervous. Mine will be done out patient at a

surgical center, not at the hospital though. How come they put you

in the hospital? How long ago did you have yours done? I know it

will be just a couple of days after before I start my outpatient

PT.

I'm glad it worked out well for you and hope I have the same results!

Hello Deb, I am back after a few days away....just want to wish you well with your procedure. My thoughts will be with you for a very quick relief and return to a good bend. I am traveling again this weekend for 5 days, so hope to hear good news from you on my return. Marciareynawhitehawk <ReynaWhitehawk@...> wrote: Hi Jan,Thanks for your post. Hi Marcia...

Thanks I need all the good thoughts I can get :) They changed my

appointment time now to late this afternoon so I get to wait longer

now!! And I start PT the next day so I don't loose any of my new

bend. Have a good trip.
