Speed bump on my road to recovery from THR

It's now been 3 weeks since my right hip was replaced. The surgeon checked me

over 2 days ago & found a small infection in or under the stitches. He didn't

seem very worried about it, but said it can't be allowed to go further, so I'm

taking keflex (antibiotic). He prescribed 10 days' worth, guess that usually

wipes these things out.

I was getting along fine until this kicked up, walking fairly comfortably with

just the cane. But now I feel wiped out, tired aching legs & feet, & generally

without energy. I guess antibiotics just do that to people. My PT was here

today; I felt a lot better after my workout & stretching (she stretches my

hamstring & my quad, hurts like the dickens but leaves me feeling relaxed &

mobile for a while). I have to go on with home PT, according to the home care

nurse, as long as I'm on this med. The OS had written an Rx for outpatient PT,

& my current PT said I was ready for something more than she can do here...but,

I need the home nursing visits to check on the incision. So I feel like I'm not

getting along as well as I'd like.

On the bright side, I've managed to get some laundry done & freecycled an old

futon today. So maybe I'm not completely useless. I helped my husband fix

supper tonight: I microwaved some fresh broccoli!

The sun came out here in Michigan this afternoon, first time in a week or 2.
