It has tons of very good information/testimonials from people who are so glad they did NOT get a THR. Please check it out. Guest guest
We are so blessed to live in this day and age where joint replacements are possible. You will be thrilled with the results! I have always felt so appreciative that I have had something that is fixable. I have had both hips replaced and my first revised. It is normal to worry but soon you will be once again tending to your rose garden with ease. My last surgery in April of this year I have chronicled if you would like to read more what to expect: http://www.carepages.com/home.jsp Once you register, my care page is called MyNewHip (all one word) I loved your reference to a Walrus....lol Sue in PA
Guest guest
Thank you Sassy. Please do keep me in your prayers as I certainly need all I can get. I am trying to think positive, but I have been this way for so long I just can't imagine actually being able to walk pain-free. So long as I can get back some mobility, I will be happy. Guest guest
Oh, I was prepared, alright. I had a 2 page list of typed questions for each surgeon I saw. The surgeon who answered those questions most completely and in depth, is the one I went with. I saw the first surgeon in June, and the other 2 in July. I went with the last surgeon I saw, even though I had made arrangements with the 2nd surgeon when I saw him. I then cancelled him to go with the one who is doing my replacement. He thought I had really done research and homework on the subject, and he seemed pleased that I brought these questions to him. Guest guest
Thank you Sally. Did you have both your hips done at the same time? My other hip is bone on bone, but hasn't collapsed like the right one has. I intend to have it done when I heal from this first one. Are you able to kneel? I am/was a avid gardener. I have 61 rose bushes plus 1/2 acre of perennial beds and shrubs. I haven't been able to kneed this year to weed nor can I plant things. My back has been giving me so much trouble. My surgeon says that it is related to my pelvis being out of whack, although, I do have arthritis in my spine. I will only know when both hips are done whether it was the hips, or my spine giving me these problems. Arianne > > Arianne > You will be so happy you had this surgery. Guest guest
thank you for your prompt answer, Sally. I'm sure my back problems are caused by my hips also. My back was fine until a few months ago. Sorry about your knees. You sound much like me. when it comes to being able to garden, I will improvise. I have even lay on my belly to get it done. Not easy to get up, but I worry about that when it's time to get up. Again, thank you very much. I can imagine how learning to walk again was a challenge. I guess it will be the same for me, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it. lol Arianne > > Arianne > No, I did not have hips done at the same time but 6 months apart. Guest guest
Thanks, Sassy. I knew there had to be tools around like that. I do have a kneeler that flips over to become a seat. That thing has been a real life saver for me these past 6 years. This year though, I couldn't even use it because it made my back hurt so much just bending forward. I saw my surgeons physician's assistant today to go over some last minute things, and he told me that the arthritis in my spine is quite significant. He said that I have scoliosis and isn't sure just how much of that pain will go away after I have my hip done. So, I will just have to wait and see. Guest guest
Yes, I think as he watched me walk, he thought that some of it was caused by my hip. He did tell me that one leg is shorter than the other by 1 inch. Also, my bad hip is higher than the other and I can't stand up straight. So, we will play it by ear. I just hope that the surgery goes well. I will deal with the other problem later, if it is still a problem. Arianne > > Thanks, Sassy. I knew there had to be tools around like that.
