Happy to see you'll be back under the waves once again! I know

you're looking forward to it. Have fun, and please be careful. :-)

> Last month I wrote about not been able to scuba dive as I was a

keen diver before the implant. I was under the idea that the implant

itself was the stopping diving. I just done heaps of researching

thanks to you people out there that do it. I even made cochlear ltd

write a letter saying that it has been cleared with there testing.

With all my information I went for a second opinion and pleased to

say that I will be underwater again. The doctor explained to me why

I was rejected and a lot of it is to do with the risk factor. It was

a risk diving before the implant but done properly the risk is not

really there. Gee driving a car is a risk but they don't stop you

doing that. Once I proved my ear drums could equallise and with him

talking to cohlear ltd on the phone to say that in a the rare case

of blown ear drums doesn't effect the internal operation I was

cleared. Of course, you must dive safe with a good dive buddy and

slowly asscend and everything will be ok.
