and all:

As the moderator, I can understand your point about alot of banter. I set this listserve up to serve as a connection for those who are undergoing or have undergone TJR surgery. I still believe that this is becoming exactly what I have envisioned - a means for expression of fears, for people to unite and for information to be exchanged.

With this vision though, comes the extraordinary amount of chatter which is also a drawback at times. I would suggest that if you are unhappy with receiving all of the emails, your subscription can be changed to "Daily Digest", which allows all of the emails to be condensed into one email on a daily basis. I have not felt the need to be as active as in the past and I allow you all to answer questions and share information. Thanks to people like Marilyn and y, the Physical Therapist's perspective keeps people on the "straight and narrow" when you all need that bit of professional input (I only input individually when I feel the strong need).

The benefit of Daily Digest limits the numerous emails however you don't get to give your input as immediately because the emails are delayed until midday. So for those of you that like to immediately respond, you find yourselves a little out of the loop. For people like , who obviously was enjoying his participation, it allows you to still play with others but not as vigorously.

I scan the emails daily and stay up on the action. I love the international perspective but just not each individual one on a daily basis.

Thanks for making this work EVERYONE!!!

Alisa

PS: Email me if you have any trouble switching over and I'll be happy to do the change for you.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming...'Wow! What a ride!' Marge, Did you make that up or is a quote from something? Its great!! THAT WAS OUR MODERATOR, ALISA'S LINE FROM THE END OF HER LETTER. I REALLY LIKED IT, TOO. P.S. Do you know who the girl was in the sunset picture thatyou posted recently? I swear I have one just like it of me taken in Oct. in CA., I will have to check, but I think I even had the same pony tail. It was strange. I KNOW THE FEELING. I FOUND A POST CARD IN A STORE AT MYRTLE BEACH THAT HAD A PICTURE ON IT THAT LOOKED JUST LIKE MY BROTHER. THAT POEM AND ALL OF ITS PICTURES CAME FROM MY FRIEND IN AUSTRALIA. E-mail Address ailsayates@...

SHE WOULD LOVE HEARING FROM YOU.

Hi Alisa,

Last year I thought Maralyn was made a moderator of the group too.

I run several groups, and it is important for there to be more than one

incase one of the moderators is unable to get online for some reason. (Major

computer crash, illness, just plain needing a break, or holidays)

With a group as big as this it must be quite a burden on you if you are the

only moderator.

I'm very grateful not to have the spam. Can you appoint another moderator

please.

| Ok everyone,

|

| I have my yearly vacation coming up and this means I will be unable to

| moderate the listserve for about 2 weeks. The only way that this will

| impact you all is that I can either:

|

| A) Open the listserve up to anyone that posts, which means that you

| will be subject to Viagra, Cialis and other spam messages that come

| through

|

| B) Prevent new messages from going through until I return, whcih means

| people that are not approved memebrs will not get answers until I

| return to moderate

|

| C) Appoint a moderator in my absence to approve messages until I return

|

| Think about what might work for you all as I try to allow you all to

| police yourselves but I do omit all spam from the site manually and

| need someone to do that for me...

Two of your options - 1)let spammers post at will, or 2)leave us with

no new posts and dead in the water - leave lots to be desired. Isn't

there someone whom you can trust to monitor things for two weeks,

even if they aren't perfect?
