Guest guest
I usually try to encourage people to use the foods with high vitamin C and iron. Nature seems to know what to put together. Green leafy vegetables, kiwi fruits, pawpaw are all readily available here and have less side effects than pills. As a vegetarian, eating liver is out. If you can't or won't eat iron-rich meats, try dried apricots. One of the highest sources of vegetable-based iron around, with built in vitamin C! Or, and I know this sounds crazy, but try cooking in an uncoated iron pot. The iron gets into the food. I was massively anaemic after some surgery years back, and this was the advice I got. That and as many dark green leafy vegetables, of course. If you can get as much or your iron from foods rather than pills as possible, it's easier for your body to absorb.
