Guest guest
All, I just had my hip replaced 3 weeks ago at UCLA medical center (via anterior mehod) by the proffesor of ortopedic surgery and they used both the spinal and general. I didnt feel when they put the spinal in, they must have given me verset? , I dont remember, but I didnt feel a thing I felt great, once they took out the spinal 1 /2 days later, they gave me a PCA with morphine, that thing doesnt work as good as a spinal at all. Once they took me off the morphine, I felt really horrible. They gave me vicodin and I came home 4 days later. It was really intense. I am a 32 year old female. The question I have for all of you is I feel a leg descrepany but the x-rays/mri show no discrepancy. My OT has told me she thinks because I walked bad for 4 years ? does anyone have any suggestins or expierance with this? I just requested a lot of Versed (however it's spelled) and from the point when they were preparing to do the spinal until I got in the recovery room, I remember nothing. That doesn't mean I wasn't aware of what happened, but Versad (I'll try both spellings), is causes amnesia. You don't remember even if you were aware of what was happening in the OR. The only downside is that my short-term memory really was affected for quite a while. The experience wasn't at all unpleasant in the long run, since I remember nothing. And I don't have the problem of swallowing pills like I have after general anesthesia.Best wishes to all this great group, BarbPS If live means something else, let me know!>> rather you than me lindy, I was meant to be live, but backed out at the last minute and am glad I did - not for the feint of heart - blood, well I lost lots, that would have really got me. No I'm glad I opted for the general. Oh geez I just reread your email, guess these drugs are still in my system - in Canada they elect to do this op under a spinal, but it wasn't for me - no I couldn't handle the sawing and banging.> a> live hip replacement> > > > i found a "live" total hip replacement. it wasn't so bad. in fact, i now feel way better about having surgery. and it wasn't that bloody either. the worse was the pounding, so if you have a strong stomach and are going to have (or have had) a hip replacement, i recommend watching it. ;-)> > http://www.or-live.com/Zimmer/1604/> click on view webcast> > Hugs,> Lindy Lou> Right THR 1/22/2007>
Guest guest
Hi , With both surgeries I have felt that I had a length difference. It is amazing how after a while it goes away. *laugh*. At the moment I have a walking stick I can adjust. In the mornings I need to change it dramatically. By the end of the day I have changed it several times the other way.
