Guest guest
-CheyLynn [ Fox] If you are interested in using shortening, you can go to the lye calculator at www.the-sage.com/services/calculator to figure out how much lye and water to use. this is a good idea so that you don't get a recipe from someone that might have typed in errors! if it is soy shortening, just put it in as soy oil (it has info on the page). if it is crisco US style, I've been told to use safflower oil as an equivalent for the lye calc. good luck! Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 12:50:28 -0800 From: Marie <mamav@...> Subject: Mica & Coconut oil questions Hey list buds- Second, I got a gallon of coconut oil, but I expected it would come in a pail... It's actually in a jug. So there it is, this solid coconut oil, in a one gallon jug with a skinny little hole at the top, and the inaccessible oil down under. What's the best way to go about this? I'm thinking about melting it down and pouring it into mason jars- just setting it in a pan of hot water til it melts down. Seems like melting the whole thing each time wouln't be a good idea. Also got some monoi de tahiti, the jasmine scented- Oh! It's heavenly! Marie [ Fox] I put the jug into the sink full of hot water. it works.you can melt it down each time or melt it and put it into mason jars. ________________________________________________________________________ _______ ________________________________________________________________________ _______ The only box of Borax I could find is: 20 mule Team Borax Laundry Booster. It does not state it is 100% borax...the only precautions on the box are: ~Contains Sodium Tertaborate Decahydrate ~Not for drug use. Did I get the right kind??? Thanks, [ Fox] that's the same kind I got!
Guest guest
" Read an extended interview with one of the researchers working on BL22, which has yielded excellent results in hairy cell leukemia. " " The drug was tested on CLL patients, but since those cells exhibit a lesser expression of CD22, the response was less. " Interesting... my husband's BMB showed that he had higher expression of CD22,the target of BL22 (78%) than CD20, the target of Rituxan (57%). I assume that this would suggest he may get a better reaction from BL22 than from Rituxan? His diagnosis was SLL/CLL (more SLL). He had many lymph nodes that are slightly enlarged and a very enlarged spleen (which was removed in March). Sara
Guest guest
A positive prgnosis for those of you facing THR, and answer (in part) to the ceramic queries: First, I am three weeks (Tuesday) post-op. I am writing this from my office, to which I drove (only 3.5 miles, I admit). I am using a cane, but only because my doctor and wife urge such prudence. I have previously suggested that one positive step was that I used the extra several months of awaiting my delayed surgery to do some extra leg exercises at the YMCA which strengthened the leg, etc. Also, I had been forced to stop long runs (Maras, then even 1/2 maras) then stop running at all last fall because of hip. The delay was to get the newly FDA approved ceramic hip. the two manufacturers--and FDA approval and studies are linked at activejoints.com I was impressed by the study results, and the frustratingly meticulous FDA process that led to the conclusion these ceramic hips were the wave of the future.Because approval was only this year, there w as a backlog--at least out here in the hinterlands of Olympia, Washington. For me, we'll see whether running is in the future, but the recovery process has been remarkably quicker than expected, and naturally I project results analogous. When reviewing the post-op x-rays with my Dr., I noticed a " split " in the leg spike part. He explained that was one of the refinements that followed earlier testing. Some books, etc. refer to long-term thigh pain, and the problem was with flex in the " spike " The visible " split " is the solution. jIM j Digest Number
Guest guest
Hi guys: Went to the orthopods yesterday. I had the sutures removed. I couldn't believe what I saw. He only put 3 sutures in each knee and steri-strips. The wound doesn't look new. It looks as if it is at least 6 months old. No newness whatsoever. He said when I see him on June 24th, I will be able to use a cane. He also said that I would be able to use knee hi supports at that time also. He is very pleased with my progress. Today, I hit 116° on my right leg. The left leg is stuck at 103°. I feel like I am ready to take off. It is going too good at just 3 weeks. Guest guest
Congratulations! I hope you continue to make rapid progress. You must be pretty ecstatic at the prospect of actually USING your knees again. (8-) Like they said in this medical article I just read, you don't even know you have knees until they hurt. Guest guest
Hi Ed Kasper, I have been trying to make an intelligent decision, which water is best. Mostly thinking that distilled has to be the cleanest. Minerals added in springs or nature would be useful if the water also did not pick up pollution. One can never win an argument. Listen and learn. I find I learn as much or more from the person I disagree with. More firmly establishing what I learned before. I appreciate your explanation. I drink and cook with filtered mineral water and make kombucha with distilled. First brewing the tea and then adding the sugar dissolved in part of the water boiling. Takes 2 pans but I feel it makes the best tea. I hope we all can make allowance for each other not to feel our best at times and for the other to have a different understanding. I appreciate your input and everyone elses too. Regards, Virginia D.
