Guest guest
Bill: rejection of implants is very rare, although a real possibility. There was someone on this list recently whose husband was having a possible rejection. I am seeing a patient right now who is 58 years old, two weeks post-op today, bilateral TKP's; she is walking independently with a wheeled walker in the home, and up/down the street in front of her house about 500ft. She can ascend/descend 5 stair steps with moderate assistance. She is pedaling a little restorator (bicycle pedals without the wheels) for 10 minutes at a time. Her orthopedist is very protective, and although she has good range of motion, and pretty good strength, he will not allow her off the walker for 4-6 weeks. She has 115 degrees of knee flexion already. Hope this helps some. Let us know how you do! How long will you be in the hospital? Do you have good help at home? Guest guest
Hi Bill, I say it up to you did you asked your dr a lot of questions about your Knee replacement. I wanted my Hip and my Knee done at the same time and my dr wouldn't do it so I had my hip done four years ago and my knee done two years ago on my right side I have to say my Hip operation didn't go to well I have what you call bad scar tissurs and my knee seems to be ok except my leg is numb on the outside of my leg. I think it depends on the person or the dr how each person does.Well I wish you the best of luck in your operations and a speedy recovery . I also read that this one guy he was young he had both of his knees replace and now he can't bend his legs now that doesn't mean it could happen to you . You could be one of these people where everything works out for you. Well you have a nice day. Guest guest
Hi Marilyn Thanks for the encouragement. I'm told by the doctor I will be released from the Hospital on Oct 1st. The surgery will be done on 09/22 at 7:30 am. My brother will arrive on Oct 4th and will spend a week with me. After that it will be up to my wife to lend what support she can. My concern is, will I be able to get around on my own and do for myself around Oct.14th? I am a very independant type person that likes to do things on my own. I suppose one of the main issues is how well will I be able to use the restroom after the operation. I have ask questions of the medical staff and they all assure me that everything will be just fine and I will have everything I need. I will admit it's sceary. > > >I'm scheduled to have both knees replaced on the 22nd of this > >month...good idea...bad idea. What?
