All:

Week four went by very quickly with the holidays and all. As I stated

last time I was having a pain on the lower outside just below my knee

when I would first get up from a sitting position. That went away for

one day, Wednesday. But when I went to my PT Thursday it returned for

the rest of the week. I am going to ask at PT about this pain later

this week when I go in.

I finally figured out what PT really means, " Pain Threshold " or

something to that effect. She has been forthright and told me that to

get my leg back to normal she was going to become more aggressive. I

fearfully smiled and agreed. She then proceeded to push my leg

straight for a count of 10. She did this 10 times over the next 5 or

10 minutes. Not fun! But she got my leg down to 4 degrees from the

10 I had when I came into the office. Just to backup a bit I did have

my leg down to 5 degrees (from the hospital) but I guess I was being

easy on myself and the extension had lessened to 15 degrees. She was

impressed that I had got it down to 10 degrees in two days.

The thing I want to pass along to you all is that you can't take it

easy when it comes to getting the mobility back in your joint. The

pain is not fun but it is for a short season. So discipline is the

word. Sorry for cursing and using the 'D' word 8^).

All and all I am able to walk without any aids and do so around the

house. If I go out I take a cain. This is mainly to support the new

knee and allow the bone to fully mend (the joint is cementless). I

only take pain meds at night just before bed. I will try and stop

that this next week. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.
