Guest guest
My ortho agrees with what Mr. 's ortho said re: ceramic on ceramic for people in their 50's and 60's. He said even though it has only been approved for use in the U.S. for a few months, it has been successfully used in Europe for many years. I want the " latest and greatest " and I also want at least 30 more years on that hip! My surgery is also scheduled for late January. Dear Bill,I had this operation through Medicaid per Social Security Disability. I wasSO afraid that I was going to get a low quality of care. In my attempts toget some help, I had gone to Hospital and sat in the orthopedic unitwith people that were in such sad shape in every way imaginable. Some werehandcuffed to wheelchairs, some hadn't taken a bath in a month, some werementally deranged etc etc. I just couldn't imagine that I was going to getthat great of care but I was praying that I would. Actually, I have been soblessed that I got the best of care. So I told my doc that I didn't want"ACME" hip appliance from Looney Tunes. You know, when I worked at BascomPalmer Eye Institute many years ago, the paying cataract patients got Baush & Lomb lens where the Medicare/Mediaid patients got ACME lens ie. Thegeneric variety. So I told him I wanted Baush and Lomb hip appliance. =-)Anyway, the dr told me that I would get ceramic on ceramic. I was asshocked as I'm sure you are. I saw the x-ray a week ago or so and it wastoo perfect. Vera (South Fl)

Guest guest
Juneflower I worked with the docs in the McHenry area, I worked at Northern Illinois Med Center for 12 years and then Woodstock Hosp for 7 years. I had a right total hip, ceramic on ceramic, done 5 months ago here in Hannibal Missouri, where I now live. Gurnee was too far from me, I knew the docs in the McHenry and west to Woodstock areas.
