Guest guest
It has been 5 years since my thr and everything has been good. I play tennis and walk and lead a normal life. I have recently felt sharp pains in the hip joint and have made an appointment to see the doctor. Can anyone tell me about symptoms perhaps leading to a 2nd replacement? Also this new approved ceramic joint has interesting lengthy possibilities. Does anyone have any info (not manufactured sponsored) on this? Guest guest
Mike the exact same thing happened to me and I got 2 opinions on this as it is my 3rd replacement on that side, so I wasn't relishing more surgery I was also having complications with a shoulder surgery so it was the last thing I needed. Any way as it has only happened the once and nearly happened again, but I stopped it, and have decided to leave well alone unless it happens again, Having said that. I am having pain in the thigh of the same hip and I am not sure if its because of the stem coming loose or what, so I am trying to find a surgeon who is experienced in revisions, I hope this gives you some help. mary.waspe@... They are two different devices. I have never had any problem with the older one. I surf, kayak, and bike ride. Recently I had a dislocation of the left hip. That hip has a much smaller ball than the right. I was bent over at an ususal angle and it poped out. A trip to the emergency room followed. Very uncomfortable and scary. Like haveing a broken leg, you are not going anywhere on your own. So, my surgeon who did the hips has retired The guy who took his place tells me he can do a revision. Move the cup some, perhaps put a larger ball on and tighten up the tendon. Anyone have this done? Any success stories or horror stories? I am 63 years old and ready to retire. I don't want a bunch of limitations on my activities if I can avoid it. Thanks-Mike ------------------------------------
Guest guest
I will be able to tell you more in a few weeks! I am having my left THR (metal on metal) replaced May 3rd because of looseness in the ligaments and pain. surgeon will tighten ligaments, change the cup to a metal with polyethylen and the head with a longer neck (to tighten the ligaments) and if necessary change the stem to a longer one. I will let you know how it goes. sunita > > Mike the exact same thing happened to me and I got 2 opinions on this as it > is my 3rd replacement on that side, > > so I wasn't relishing more surgery I was also having complications with a > shoulder surgery so it was the last thing I needed. > > Any way as it has only happened the once and nearly happened again, but I > stopped it, and have decided to leave well alone unless it happens again, > Having said that.
