Hi Jerry,

If there was a perfect hip for all that is what all the doctors

would use. Most are pretty keen to get the best outcomes for

their patients.

Depends on a lot of things and on how skilled the surgeon is with

that type of proceedure.

So you need to work out

How much you will use it

How significant certain minerals in your body could be

How likely to have a car accident or impact in the future

How old you are

How likely to get an infection

How heavy you are

What range of movement you need

What your surgeon's peers and training say are good

And what your fears and comfort zone allows

This is why type of hip and proceedure is such a hot topic.

Everyone tries to get the best for them, but it may not be the

best for me.

I agree with the other posters ... you have to go with what your

doctor feels is best for you. And, even then, it may turn out to be

something different when the surgery actually takes place. My doctor

wanted to use ceramic but when he went in discovered the smallest

ceramic prothesis was too large for me (5' female) so he changed to

titanium and plastic. It's good to research various options, but in

the end what the surgeon decides is what counts.

Jerry,

Here's some more light reading for you, including the results of a

study done by two resurfacing Dr.'s and one for the Arthritis foundation.
