Allergies & Drug Classes (Macrolides, TCN, PCN Cephalosporins)

Hi J,

Sometimes I know what my brain is trying to say and my fingers just type it in

my own shorthand (LOL)!!

My question is: Most patients with a PCN allergy have a 10 - 20% chance (not

really sure of the actual %) of having an allergy to Cephalosporins. Along that

same line, (if I understand this correctly or I may have it reversed), if

Macrolides are a sub-class of Tetracycline would a patient with a TCN allergy be

predisposed to a Macrolide allergy?

Send in the love back at ya,

I do not understandyour questions about allergies following 100 % or

like PCN Cephalosporins. Please be more specific and I will answer.

I am going to do a search and get back to you ....
