why can't you take an injectable orally??

My girlfriend emailed me asking me this question. Her son

asked " asked me why can't you take an injectable orally?? And

if you do what happens?? I can't find a damn thing about it on the

web. Do you know what happens if you take something that is made to

be used IM or subcutaneously orally what the affects would be?? I

know strange question, but I really couldn't answer it. "

Is there anyone out there that can answer this. It is for a school
