Guest guest
My uncle lives in mexicali and will be picking my dad and I up at the airport. I am flying in 2moro so we can visit my family. But yea I am very excited about the whole process. My fear of the unknown.... is whats killing me. And life after surgery. My husband's reaction, my kids, just everything. I am sure everyone goes through this. But i know life is gonna change because as unfair as it is people treat you different bc of your size. thanks for responding. When did you have your surgery and what procedure? thanks Shea From: Cyrena Weeks <cyrenaweeks>Subject: Re: [Dr-Aceves-bandster s] nervous @groups. comDate: Friday, January 9, 2009, 8:56 PM What WLS are you having?? Believe me after the loan comes through, it will KILL you to wait that long I was approved in August and had to wait until January for new flex dollars, it was a LONG few months :) Weight loss depends on the type of surgery and how much you have to lose. Anyway around it, you will be glad you did it. I'm sure you have heard this before but don't tell anyone that you will regret telling. You can't undo who knows Believe me anyone that knows will be watching your every step (or should I say bite) It is a great idea to just be like ta-da, I lost weight :)Good luck and let us know if you have any questions. Guest guest
Dear Christy, The first thing I am going to tell you is not about duties! It is about professional behavior and ethics: 1. Dress for Success! Find out what they want you to wear. Examples: a. uniform: solid or print? color? b. dress shirt and tie for guy? and dress pants and blazer for woman? c. don't care? then you should! buy a uniform anyway. Uniforms are lint free. Look professional and lend to a positive image of the pharmacy and employees. Who knows you may set a trend! 2. NEVER EVER: a. Use your cell phone at work behind the counter only on break and out of the view of the paitents UNLESS it is an emergency WITH your pharmacists approval. (may be forbidden in a hospital) b. USE the internet for personal use or searches: vacations, auto or brides dress shopping etc. not even during 'break or slow times of the day'. 3. NO IDLE TIME! a. Do not allow yourself to be standing or sitting wondering what you could be doing or learning! b. Find somethong to do such as: cleaning shelves, checking outdates or expiration dates and pulling them from shelves. c. If you do not know what you can be doing ASK WHAT CAN I DO for you? Can I help you in any way? d. IF all else fails appear busy wiping down counters etc. 4. OFFER to go to the fast food for anyone left behind when or IF you go! Pharmacists only get 1/2 hour for break and will not usually leave a newbie behind alone in the pharmacy. So they either do not leave or they will leave and shut down the pharmacy. Once they hire and trust you they may leave you alone with pharmacy open. 5. ASK any and ALL questions to the technician who is training you and or the pharmacist. LEARN that procedural questions CAN go to the tech trainer and pharmaceutical questions go to the pharmacist. IF you still doubt what the tech trainer has taught you then go to the pharmacist. Does not hurt to ask the pharmacist and tech trainer in advance on DAY ONE (1) What types of questions are okay to ask the trainer vs pharmacist? sometimes tech trainersoverstep their bounds and answer pharmceutical or therapeutic questions which actually should be directed to the pharmacist. They do this for two reasons mainly: 1. they feel important as they are in a training mode it is ego related, they feel that they know the answer so why not? 2. they do not want to interupt the pharmacist and do not want the pharmacist to think that he/she can not train properly and handle the trainees questions. NOT ALL TRAINERS who are techs are like this but there are some out there that are. 6. IF you are from a school: Report any and all problems or questions to your teacher or Externship co-ordinator. 7. Always be on time and have 100% attendance. IF for some reason you can not come in (illness) then call in sick as early as you can. If you have hands free phone in car call in that you are running late. 8. NEVER clock in or out another employee or extern. 9. LEARN/KNOW all pharmacy/store rules and FOLLOW them. Attend an orientation if give and ask questions. 10. IF in DOUBT - ASK! NEVER try to do what YOU think is best. Do what you KNOW is right and within the LAW. Okay! NEXT some duties that will help you the most in the very beginning! Hope this helps someone out there!
