Guest guest
Dear Tracie, Regarding the two books that you have: The Pharmacy Technician (2nd Edition) (Paperback) Customer 4 star rating by Marvin M. Stoogenke (Author) Has one of my highest reviews. However it is a bit dated now. Meaning that it may not contain more updated drugs. But the laws and the math are the same. There are updates to USP 797, HIPAA as well. Other than that it should be okay. http://www.amazon.com/Pharmacy-Technician-2nd-Marvin-Stoogenke/dp/0835951537 APhA's Complete Math Review for the Pharmacy Technician (Apha Pharmacy Technician Training) (Paperback) Customer 4 star rating by A. Hopkins (Author) I have not personally purchased this nor have I seen it. However I can tell you that it comes highly recommended by those who have used it. Another thing I can say is that from the postings of some math questions from this book, there are quite a few that do not belong and most likely are not on the PTCB exam. I recall correctly a few about agriculture and some math that pharmacists would do not techs. But the majority of math in this book should be applicable. http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Review-Pharmacy-Technician-Training/dp/1582120773 Helpful pointers? I would say read 'A Study Plan' in my File section 'How to get started'. You may still have it in the emails this site automatically sent you when you signed up. Study from the 5th Folder Tutorials along with your books. When you come to questions that you just can not figure out then post them. I or my TEXPERTS will attempt to help you to understand the question and how to find the answer and/or explain the answer to you. You should get a reply within 49 hr usually within 24 hrs. The test seems to have about 33% Law 33% Math and the remainder is hodge podge 33%. Go the PTCB site: www.ptcb.org to find out all you can about the exam and what is on it and what to study. See the " Exam " tab. If the two books you boght only have math you will need to invest in a good overall review book. I recommend one sold on www.techlectures.com For Pharmacology: Know trade/generics, side effects, toxic effects, allergies, precautions, storage and handling and drug interactions of as many drugs from the Top 200 list that you can. But know that the exam will only ask you a few. Which ones? Who knows! The test changes, and if it didn't we all have signed an oath not to divulge exact questions. Hope this helps. Do you have any specific questions?
