Hi All-

Adding endorsements isn't going to amount to a hill of beans as long

as *anyone* can attain CPhT status in the first place. Granted, a few

techs may receive a small raise, but do you think this will

substantially change the overall pay rate of techs? I sure don't.

What we really need is for NABP,ACPE,CCP to REQUIRE specific education

and training and a license BEFORE a person can be called a " tech "

The Technician credentialing process should mirror that of the

pharmacist.

1st requirement: degree or diploma from an accredited Tech program.

(the program could offer online services to those techs currently

working in a pharmacy as long as their employement is verified)

2nd requirement: licensure-by the state(s)

3rd requirement: You must have the first two requirments before you

can get the additional endorsements like 3rd party billing or Sterile

compounding certificates--

Of course I don't see this happening as long the NABP allow the chain

stores to influence decisions.

Think about it. The retail pharmacists are demanding more money than

ever---they're getting close to $100,000 in my neck of the woods.

That's got to be putting the hurt on the profit margins. So I could

see where the chains would fight tooth and nail against raising tech

standards---the last thing they want is to have to pay higher tech

wages as well---even though in the long run with it would probably pay

off.
