Guest guest
Dear , I placed a long very long answer to Stuart about how to study for pharmacology. Basically find the 20-30most commonly prescribed drugs. Look them up and write a short monograh on each and then study them that way. Also use www.studystack.com to place your info on electronic flash cards to help memorize this info. No on here on this site is allowed to tell you which ones to study or which will be on the exam. My suggestion of the top 20-30 most commonly prescribed drugs is arbitrary in that it would probably be difficult for PTCB to include many new up to date drugs in their exams. However I sssupect they add a few new ones here and there. Please note that the exam is varied enough so that if you miss the pharmacology questions you will still pass if you are knowedgabel in math, law assisting the RPh etc. You will do well. Please keep me personally posted on how well you do on the actual exam. Hope this helps you out... Guest guest
You might try a book called " Pharmacology for Dummies " or it may be called Clinical Pharmacology for Dummies, but I would also get " Anatomy and Physiology for Dummies " . I did not have them when I taught myself A & P. I need to go back for a formal class. There is only so much one can do with self education! Now pharmacology is not something that you will find much of on the net FREE! That is because it takes so long to teach and to understand. I will develop a tutorial on some things of pharmacology, but you need to know that subsitution between classifications should only be made by a pharmacist NOT a tech! So I am not sure what your techs are doing, most likely substituting generic for trade due to non-coverage of trade by the insurance. Can you also give me a better example of what your techs are doing? THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR VALIDATING WHY EDUCATION IS NECESSARY TO BE A BETTER TECH! You gave the perfect example as to why techs need education of pharmacology long before going on an internship and gettinghired! NO one should have to learn this stuff on the job! and by the way I donot believe that most techs know this stuff from pulling meds or reading scripts! They learn on the job because they ask or they read or self educate! None of which is truly on the job training when it comes to true pharmacolgy. Techs who think pharmacolgy is just knowldege of trade/generic/classification/use are totally misled and sadly mistaken. I commend you for wanting more. Youget those books and read then ask me questions. May bethen we can get something going about pharmacolgoy on this site.
