Guest guest
The starting pay at one of the local grocery chains in St. Louis is 7.00/hour. Yep. Seven dollars. Seven whole dollars. They'll give you 7.50 if you actually have your CPhT. Also, union membership is mandatory so they <s>coerce</s> payroll deduct for union dues and initiation fees. Guest guest
Not Sure of the cost of living in your parts of the US. My hospital in San Texas employ new pharmacy technicians that are certified and registered with no experience at $10.00/hr Re: about the salary of CPhT walmart is paying less than that to start --- mouselisug <mouselisug@...> wrote: > I had an interview in walgreen in MN yesterday. Guest guest
Hi All- Tech salaries vary quite a bit from region to region. I suggest you visit salary.com to see the average pay for your region. http://salary.com Here in the Great Pacific Northwest the starting salary for a hospital tech is around $14 to $15/hr. The minimum wage here in Washington is $7.93/hr That may sound like quite a bit to some folks, but the cost of living here is higher than other regions. We're not as bad as California yet, though we seem to be heading that way. Washington state also requires that techs obtain education/training either through a WABOP approved formal training program or a WABOP approved on the job training program. Upon completion of aforementioned program the tech must then obtain state certification before one is allowed to work as a " pharmacy technician " . Washington State does not recognize PTCB certification as a substitute for state certification at this time, and I hope it never does---that would be a huge step backward!! Guest guest
Thanks for all informations about salary. It seems 10$/hour is pretty resonable. But I seached on salary.com, that's the lowest salary of my local area. So I felt a little upset. Anyway I still hope I can get that job. Good luck for everyone looking for jobs. >From: " mouselisug " <mouselisug@...> >Reply- > >Subject: about the salary of CPhT >Date: Tue, 09 Jan 2007 20:34:18 -0000 > >I had an interview in walgreen in MN yesterday. Guest guest
journeyman? that sounds like an apprenticeship rank. how many years is that? I'm also at a union shop, and we don't have terms like that. we have steps. I think we have 12 of them. --- Morgaine <morgaine_nicely@...> wrote: Well, I work for Fred Meyer, and since we're a union store when i hit journeyman status i'll be close to 18.00/hr. one of the reasons i'm going into pharm tech. Guest guest
I just had a student offered to do an internship at a local Walgreens, with an automatic hire IF the student learns everything well and IF the student has NO tardies and absence problems. When hired with registration $12 per hour, then with PTCB $13 per hour and in 18 onths $16 hour. This is just for this moment in time and for this specific student. IF any of my students are reading this it is an unusual offer and is not always the case. Any way the student 'grabbed' the chance and to my knowledge has an interview set up. But again this has to do with one location and the area of the country and the state.LOng Beach California. So we can not even say that all Walgreen's pay the same even if we were to look at cost of living. I would think that all Walgreen's in a specific area pay the same. But the internship process may play a different pay scale or role. That I am not privy to. Guest guest
Hey Jeanetta, How much does an 'average' 2 or 3 bedroom home cost in the Long Beach/Orange County/LA Metro Area? I bet it is easily more than triple the $75,000 range of my home here in Corpus Christi, TX. You have seen pictures of both my front and back yard. My home is less than 2 miles from the Corpus Christi Bay waterfront in a 'good' part of town. If I were to continue as a CPhT at my salary in 2 to 3 years and add that to my wife's salary as a school teacher, we would be considered pretty much a little better off than 'normal middle class' for south Texas. BUT that is not how our 'economic status' would be if I got into my car, drove two hours up I-37 and headed the 1 and 1/2 hours up I-35 from San to the Austin Metro area. In Austin's economy with the same dollar amount that we earn now (LET'S JUST SAY REALISTICALLY A COMBINED FAMILY INCOME OF AROUND $67,500 BEFORE TAXES) we would not be able to afford to have the same lifestyle that we enjoy here in Corpus Christi because it is REALLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY expensive to live in Austin. (Anette, you will appreciate this: In 1995 I rented a three bedroom house with 2 good buddies of mine at the corner of 51st and Ave. C for $580.00/Month! At that time we actually payed less in that extreme north part of Hyde Park because our house was in the 'flight- path'. That house would sell now for at least $180,000... Probably more!!!!) Unless we wanted to buy a 'cookie-cutter' house up in Round Rock (Sorry, Anette...) or live way up 183 in Leander, we most likely would not be able to be 'home owners' because the cost of living is so darn high in Austin. I am trying to make the point that a salary for a good job such as a CPhT 'should' provide a salary that is commensurate to the location, but I doubt that this is the case in most major metro areas of the U.S. Best Wishes From Tropical Texas, Christian B. Guest guest
Yes, I actually work in a pharmacy at a walgreens in dallas, and as far as I know the pay is 10$ an hour...and it goes up yearly...one person I know moved up to $11.75 in one year. That is alright pay, considering it is a busy pharmacy (sometimes 700+ scripts a day...usually 400-500). If you are good you can become a senior tech in a few years though and I am pretty sure they make good money. I like working there though and it usually runs smoothly.
