Guest guest
Hi Christy! Welcome to the group. I experienced the gurgling noises terribly. That was one of the most awful things for me. So loud and embarassing. Before and after my myotomy in Nov. 99. I no longer have the noises though. They slowly stopped. Maybe yours will too?? Hopefully. Anyway, welcome to the group. I hope you find a lot of useful information here. --- christycali777 <christycali777@...> wrote: > Hi, > My name is Christy. I just got a " referral " in the mail today saying that I could go to a specialist. Finally!!! It is at UCSD, has anyone been there? I think someone said that UCLA was not too good but maybe UCSD will be better.... are there any suggestions for me? Is it even worth it to go through the ballon procedure? Guest guest
I am curious where you heard UCLA wasn't a good place to go? I am seeing a Dr. there and have been happy so far. Supposedly he is the best in the Western US. I've only had a dilation there and have been in contact with several other patients from UCLA who were very pleased. Can you remember where you heard it wasn't a good place to go? They see more achalasia patients there than any other place in metro LA area as far as I know. I will probably need more treatment and had been recommending UCLA to others so now I'm worried. Sandy > > > I'm so glad that I am not the only one with the weird noises. It is > pretty embarrassing! Guest guest
Oh my goodness Christy, I " gurgle " after almost every swallow....my husband always says " what did you say? " Just to drive me nuts! I wrote about this a while ago but I always say its like a " springy " noise and I can almost always feel the bite finally go into the stomach and then the noise comes..I hate eating anywhere quite. It is always worse after a piece of candy, gum, salad dressing, seems like anything " flavorful " gives me the most noise and pain...Cathey --- christycali777 <christycali777@...> wrote: > Hi, > My name is Christy. I think the one thing that unites us is that we have 100 or more pounds to lose. That's important to me in a list because I'm tired of women whining that they've ballooned up to a size 6. Argh!!! I hate that. > I've been reading some of the posts on here but then didn't for a bit. I walk 4-5 hours per week taking my daughter back and forth to kindergarten. I love having exercise as a part of my routine. I bought the wrenches I need to fix up my bike yesterday so I'll try to get that done this weekend. If my hands do ok with the bike (had carpal tunnel surgery a year ago) then I'll get a trailer for my 2 year old to ride in. I think that will be fun exercise and I can take her to mothers day out by bike. You like the water. Is there any place that you can take a water aerobics class this winter? My sister loves that. Guest guest
> So, on this list, everyone weighs on Monday's. No. Some weigh daily, some weight weekly on various days, some don't weigh at all. We have no group weigh-in. >And you are all on ' diet? No, not all. The original list was started by people who fled the Helpin' boards because of a certain troll and his groupies, but as people come and go, this list represents a variety of food plans, and some on *no* plans. > And exercise? Can it be any kind? Sure! As long as it's done. I use everything from , to Sansone to Debbie Reynolds to my treadmill. Some here do water aerobics, other do walking, aerobic breathing, yoga, tae bo - you name it. >cardiovascular, I guess you'd call it. And it was fun! I swam and played in the pool with my grandson. It's only 4 feet, but we could run around it and make the water, swirl. So, I had FUN while I was exercising and didn't even know it! That's the best kind of exercise - the kind you *enjoy* doing. I could *never* do that, even before the asthma. > Anyway, if anyone would like to write to me, off the list and tell me how this works, As you can see, it's very informal diet chat and the sharing of tips & recipes, of weight losses and those unfortunate gains. I think trying iodine is great and kudos to your dr. who seems to be VERY open minded and undrstand the whole process. Seems like he's trying to help prevent you from having to go on thyroid hormone.Iodine deficiency is rampant-giveit a try,I think it is just awesome that your Dr. recomeneded it. many of us try things on our own our searchand search for thar dr. or alternative practitioner who will be oprn to such things. looks like u have a good guy on your side, One thing i learnned from Darla is to be patient and let the body do what it needs to do w/the things that we are giving it(so it is no longer deficient). so listen to your dr. and let your body heal and be patient.Everything will fall into place, Good luck, -- In iodine , " fog411 " <don_aude@...> wrote: > > Hi All, > > I'm new to the group and am having many symptoms of hypothyroidism, such as fatigue, weakness, low energy, heavy-headedness, and tingling in hands and feet. > > Much to my suprise, my doctor did not put me on Armour to improve my T3 and T4 levels. (I'm a long haul thinker!!!!) Lori Amazing day From: chrstnsbbygrl <chrstnsbbygrl@...> Subject: I'm new! weightloss Date: Tuesday, November 10, 2009, 5:21 AM  Hello, everyone! My name is Katelyn, but you can call me Kate for short. I'm a freshman at Old Dominion University and a long sufferer of small weight loss and great weight loss. My weight loss began when I was in the seventh grade, and my family had many difficulties, leading me to turn to food. My family had always eaten junk food because nobody really had any issues with weight. Ever since then, I'd started overeating. The weight started to be packed on. My mother is very strict and started putting me on several diets. Low carb, low calorie, intense exercise. None of it ever worked and I only ended up gaining all of the weight back and then some more. My eating struggles got worse, as did the situations in my life. I now struggle with binge eating. I found Inside Out Weight Loss while looking for helpful podcasts on iTunes. I've only listened to the first four episodes, but already starting to envision a better life. P.S.- If your curious, my dream is to be carried out of the chapel by my boyfriend on our wedding day [:x]
Guest guest
Welcome! Peggy and I have also had Vita-Mixes for many years (Peggy has me beat by a long way); I got my 4000 in 1988 but swapped up for a 5000 about 5 years ago (more or less). I'm also a foodie--food should be wonderful, even it it's not expensive. And isn't the whole Slow Food thing wonderful? One of my cousins picked up a stray Border on the highway last year and incorporated her into her pack (four at the time). The Border is a joy and spends an awful lot of time creating tasks for herself such as herding her adopted siblings. Too cute! I'm New!  Thanks for allowing admission to this VitaMix-loving group! I've had my VM for 23 years. (I bought it when I was 1-year old!) It's just as strong today as the day I bought it. Haven't used it much this last year . . . life in transition, but now it's time to fire it up again. I am a prolific, organic gardener and really, big foodie. I collect and read cookbooks like novels . . . they have to be old or international or very intriguing! Not much new stuff. I've been a natural/organic eater and gardener since the '70s. I've been an eco-advocate since the '60s. I love to cook. I'm really amused by this new, raw food craze. I've been doing that without a name for it since the '70s, when I had my first place off- campus and had to cook for myself! About the only thing I really cook is meat. Everything else is raw or steamed or sauteed til barely crisp. I'll eat anything except figs, rhubarb and sweet potatoes. I have both a wet and dry jar and have processed just about anything a VM can handle. I'm adored by my precious pet Border collie. Guest guest
I have just applied to the Pharmacy Technician program at my local community college. They require that I take Introduction to Health Care Professions first and in my research for my portfolio for this class I happened upon this group which I think just might become my lifeline once I start the program (hopefully) in August. We're are doing a group oral presentation in class tomorrow and I'm a little scared because only half of the group has pitched in. I'm hoping people will be more serious once I get into my program. Guest guest
Thank you very much. The presentation went well. The topic was Drug Screens and Background Checks. It was worth 25% of the final grade and we got the whole 25%. That was due to the work of 4 of the 6 people in the group. One of the other girls dropped due to family issues and the other girl was there for the presentation but she failed to turn in the portfolio that was worth 40% of the grade so unfortunately she didn't pass the class anyway. I got frustrated throughout the process but then I changed my way of thinking about the situation. Regardless of whether they contributed alot or a little, I was still going to work just as hard on my part b/c I would be frustrated at myself if I didn't. And since I can't control what others do or don't do, I need to focus on my own work and do my best. I agree with you. In real life, the patient is going to suffer if I don't. Thank you again! > > > > I have just applied to the Pharmacy Technician program at my local community college. Guest guest
I am in Texas. My research regarding drug screens covered the 10 Panel -- what it tests for and why you have to disclose everything you take, even otc meds like Advil since there are meds and conditions that can show a positive on the EMIT test. The Pharmacy Tech program at my school requires a 21 panel test. With regards to the background checks, we focused on trying to show the rest of the class that most health career licensing agencies want you to disclose not just felony convictions but any conviction you have. For the most part, even if you have a conviction there is usually an appeal process or a case by case review that will enable a person to pursue their dream. Our message was to not give up on the dream but to be aware it will look bad if you don't disclose something and they find it. It will look like you're hiding something and they might not be as willing to work with you. A Pharmacy Tech background check in Texas is done by the state. I guess that's it in a nutshell.
