Guest guest
Dear All, The state board of pharmacy reviews the process of application, registration and licensing from time to time. The following was adapted from CSHP announcemnts: · Recently CA State Board of Pharmacy staff provided an update on becoming licensed as a pharmacy technician. o The report stated that there are currently over 57,000 registered pharmacy technicians. o Over 50% of pharmacy technician licenses received by the CA board are submitted incomplete. o Slides on the overview of the application process and frequent deficiencies have been posted on the CSHP Website, and can be viewed by clicking here. http://www.cshp.org/uploads/file/About CSHP/Technicians/bec_lic_pt_ca.pdf · The NABP task force on standardized pharmacy technician education and training released their report supporting both training and the passage of a certification exam. · The Governor has issued an executive order that prevents state agencies from entering into new contracts until agencies submit a budget plan detailing a reduction in contracts for services and other expenses by 15%. As a result, the Board of Pharmacy has yet to psychometrically validate the exams provided by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians. It is possible the board will require both exam providers to pay for their own exam validation. · The Board of Pharmacy staff is still being furloughed two-days per month. This has increased the amount of time it takes to process licenses. (as of 6-26-09 Hope this helps someone out there!
