WISHING YOU ALL A VERY HAPPY PHARMACY TECHNICIAN DAY!

Dear ALL,

Sorry that this is soooooooooooo late on my site today!

I am usually much more punctual!

BUT I have been busy with my class from 7 am to 1pm CELEBRATING Pharmacy

Tehcnician Day by filling goodie bags for the techs, making copies of things for

them to put up as banners and flyers, visiting pharmacies,etc etc.

The students assignments every year has been to go to the SAME 6 -8 pharmacies

in the area CVS,Wallgreen's and Rite Aide to see if they are celebrating Pharm

Tech Day. Sadly EACH year with new personnel they do NOT celebrate!!!! To see

HOW they receive us! to put a bug in their ear to CELEBRATE NEXT year! We have

also gone the week before to TEACH them to celebrate. We had luck with only 2 of

the 8 that said they would! Follow up with them proved that they did! But that

was 2 years ago!

This year? NO SUCH LUCK!

The students only have time to visit retail/community pharmacy.

My eyes and ears out there in the hospitals is that they do celebrate Pharmacy

Week and Tech Day more often in Hospitals than not.

We will be writing a letter to the corporate offices as we have done in the

past.

I will post our results on the net as the students develop them. They had to do

a summary on this assignment due on Tuesday. So it should be on the site next

week. But for now I can tell you NONE of the 6 pharmacies celebrated the

Pharmacy Technician Day in Long Beach/Signal Hill California.

We gave them goodie bags and borrowed a Pharmacy Technician Survival Kit from

Ms Ann Oberg, educator's class. My students made a card on the computer using

her kit:

Starburst - for energy burst at the right time.

Rubber band - to remind you that flexibility is key.

Toothpick - to pick out the good in all situations (symbolic)

Lollipop - to lick all your problems away

Smiley Face - to remind you to wear a smile

Paper Clip - to hold your busy life together

Cottonballs - for when you can¡¦t hear yourself think.

Lifesaver - to save you from one of " those " days

The front of the card read:

The goodie bag contained all that you see above.

We also gave them two flyers from AAPT/PTEC/ICPT/PTCB (see files section) and

two flyers that we made.

One flyer had 5 pharmacist 'sayings' on them and were quoted from
