I am not sure if your email shows on this site as I see the owners forum which may be different as it shows all. If you have not sold your book and someone emails me to get your email addy can I give it to them? Thanks again, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Founder/Owner > > Assist Pharmacist in serving patients:833 > Maintain med inventory control systems: 796 > Admin.management of pharmacy practice:782 > Total:

Guest guest
I passed PTCE in early April and am very thankful. Already a group member under another account, I am posting here under real name and state. Exam Scores Total: 884 Assist pharmacist in serving patients: 877 Maintain med inventory control system: 900 Admin mgmt of pharmacy practice: 900 Self-study with no prior knowledge or experience in the field. The exam was not as difficult as I had expected ... BUT ... I had worked very hard over several months and was prepared. The study material did not come easy for me (especially drugs and math) and several times wanted to quit. Patience/perseverance do pay off. I don't really remember much about the spread and specific content of the exam. Math, law (federal), and drugs are on the exam, for sure, but then that is already known up front. Review, review, review. Work math problems until you know them, and eventually less periodically to keep your edge. Resources that I used: (1) APhA's 'The Pharmacy Technician' and companion 'Workbook & Certification Review'. The textbook covers a lot of material including anatomy and has lots of pictures (which were helpful to me), but being new to the field I really enjoyed reading it. It provided what I thought was a good foundational education. Includes math section. (2) APhA's 'Complete Math Review for the Pharmacy Technician'. Very good source for learning pharmacy math, starting from scratch. (3) 'Certification Review for Pharmacy Technicians' by Noah Reifman. Very good resource, with a lot of very detailed information and facts packed into it. Includes math section. (4) Tech Lectures (Joe Medina) 'Review for the Pharmacy Technician'. Also a very good resource and easy to read and follow. Also a good match section. (5) 'Audio Meds' CD (from ASHP). Got me started with knowing how to pronounce drug names (T/G), and starting the process of sight-and-sound relationships. I also used Studystacks.com for learning T/G/Classification/Uses. Created some of my own as well as using others. Started off with a pre-printed stack (top 200) from local B & N, though I have since learned that TechLectures has a similar offering. (6) Last but certainly not least, I used Jeanetta's Tutorials and Link sections. Printed off all of the Tutorials which formed another resource 'book' that I learned from. Thanks to Jeanetta and group members for encouraging us all to keep moving forward. Guest guest
Thank you for giving me the list of different places to go to. I went to Dorsey in Michigan. DO NOT HAVE ANYONE GO TO THAT SCHOOL. THEY DO NOT TEACH YOU HOSPITAL ONLY RETAIL. NOT MUCH HELP ON THE TEST THAT HAS HOSPITAL PROBLEMS ON IT.
Guest guest
Dear Glenn from NC, GREAT Scores! Be proud! If you all go to my Files section, the # 2 Folder has a list of Books that I highly recommend. The list of books and resources are identical to my PICKS! In addition you say similar things about each that I have said in my recommendations! www.studystack.com is a FREE electronic flash card program. My students also use it to create practice question and answer not just for Trade/generic. The first time I heard of it was about 4-5 (may be 6) years ago from a member of this site who posted about it. I have highly recommended that site ever since. Study Stack is placed not only in my link section but also in my Tools for Study document as well as I post about it from time to time. Can't say enough about the resources you used as they are identical to mine. Did you take my advice or was this purely coincidental? Thanks so much for sharing. You topped my overall score of 958 from many years ago, when there were NO online study groups and only ONE (Reifman) book out there - but I never purchased it because I did not know about it! Since about 2005, there has been an explosion of books on the market. Not all created equal. I always recommend at least two books! Guest guest
I pretty much took your advice Jeanetta based on several groupings of resources that you presented, so no it was not a coincidence. My comments were based on my experience with them so I apparently came away with the same impressions that you had written about in your resource Tutorial. Guest guest
Hey Glen 1. Glad to know some one is using/reading my tutorials and taking my advice! 2. Thanks for the feedback that my advice was good/acceptable and worked! 3. Very interesting that we described our rating or review of these materials fairly much the same.
