,

That is a very interesting and mysterious question. I think the hope is that the new cells will correct the problem

There is increasing evidence that ms is not neurological at all but virus or allergen related. Many ms'er's are having "" blood tests to identify allergens. When they avoid those allergens their symptoms improve dramatically. Those on the "Best Bet Diet" ( Dr. Ashton Emery's protocol ) do better than any of the drugs.

Tom

Tom,

Thank you for the very informative Biomark site on Stem Cell Treatment. I have a silly question. Since we don't yet know exactly what causes MS, whets from preventing the new myelin that forms from being destroyed from our MS?? Does anyone know?

Thanks Tom,

I'm a firm believer of the Best Bet. I've never had blood work done for allergic reactions to different foods. I've been tempted to do so, sounds like it would be worth my time.

Hi Jim,

If your GP does not do the blood test, he or she will know a lab that will do it.

Hi all,

Silly question maybe....where/how do I go about getting an "" test done. Can my GP do it,

and will he know what exactly it is? What information do I need to take to him if he can? I know

it's probably been discussed "way" back, sorry, "sigh" mental block at the moment. Also, awhile

back someone talked about a test for Uric acid levels...can the GP do this as well?? I have an

appointment with the doc in a couple of weeks and just wanted to go in armed and ready.

Thanks in advance,

Ho ,

Your welcome. I had it done and was "Shocked" to find all the foods that I should avoid. I never knew that I had so many sensitivities. When I avoid those foods my symptoms improve.

You can find info on the testing (I seem to recall a particular one is what you want) at www.ms-diet.org

This is the website for Ashton Embry's Best Bet Diet.

Thanks ,

I've been looking at going there (BBD) but have been stubborn as a mule about ignoring it. :-)

Wouldn't hurt me to lose about 60lbs. either. (yikes) That's like a whole grandchild! Or one

big watermelon! <grin>

Thank you for the information,

Jim

Hey Tom,

"Shocked" were they some of the foods you loved? I've been keeping a "healthy diet" for years. But I understand that even some of those wonderfully healthy foods that you love you could be sensitive to. . . . what a bummer. . . . lol Who did the testing for you, your neurologist? Thanks again

,

I could not believe the number of foods that showed up as allergens.

Yes, many of them are foods that I really like. I have not yet eliminated all of them. Bread is the toughest ( Gluten ). I have owned a restaurant most of my life and love to cook so this is really tough for me to follow diligently. I am an "Old Dog" and old dogs don't like change, LOL. I still smoke and I know that that is just plain stupid.

Since I am in a wheelchair I am rationalizing that I have already given up enough so I don't adhere to avoiding the things that I should be avoiding.

I know it sounds crazy but life goes on with or without ms and a big part of my life has always been to make the best of the cards you are dealt. One of these days I am going to do all the things that I am supposed to do.

Tom
