Was certified, let it lapse after passing Pharmacy Boards On the Job Trained? Bet your behind. Of course, I grew up in pharmacy. My parents had a pharmacy from 82-92. So! When sick, slept in aisle of drugs, helped with inventory and input from time I could play with computers (there are no labor laws regarding your own children) Number of years/months you have been a tech or CPhT? Umpteen? Basically from 82-92, then 95-03 (when graduated Pharmacy school), and still do tech stuff, since pharmacists (should) have to be able to be techs! Specialty area: Retail, IV's, Long Term care, Managed Care? Retail. Currently with WalMart since 3/2005, previously with Kroger from 5/1995 to 3/2005. Compounding can be fun also. But none of the retail chains that I've been in (either through working or on rotations) do much of it. Hobbies? I tend to tell people that I have three 'addictions': Cats (personal & rescue), Computers, Coupons Although I also do some reading, we go to movies on/off. Husband (FINALLY!) went back to school to work on his Bachlors! (It's in IT, but hey!) Etc ? Also enjoy cross-stitch, beadwork, some other 'crafty' things, helping others (especially the family that I kind of 'adopted' a couple years ago, it's fun!), freecycling. For some questions it's better to email me directly, since I can sometimes get 400-600 emails a day between different email lists, and obviously can't read them all. *blush*

Guest guest
Hello Ernie and all that are taking the exam in March: I found a great math study guide.I the book is from the APhA Pharmacy Training Series. It is the Second Edition of The Complete Math Review for the Pharmacy Technician. Author: A. Hopkins, Jr. You can order this book online at www.pharmacist. com or call 1-800-878-0729. This book is a great review. I have been out of pharmacy for about 10 years and had a great deal of catching up to do and this book assisted me in reviewing for the exam. You can find other good review books at the above site! Good luck! CPhT

But I am sure that if you surf the net that you will find it. I will check my personal files at home this weekend. You may want to privately email me to remind me. Guest guest
Hi Jeanetta I love working in the hospital but I'm having some difficulties right now (not with performance..health). How Can I email you privately? I attended Durham Tech's Pharmacy Technology Program in 1978-79. It was a 6 month program. We took Pharmacology classes had clinical rotations etc. One of my professors was the Assistant Director at Duke and hired some of us before we even finished school. So I worked at Duke for almost 7 years. I have been out of Pharmacy for about 10 years, but returned this past April 2005. Decided to take the test in November. Very nervous about that, since not only did I have 10 years of catching up to do, but to get my act together to take the test. I don't know how my score fits in Nationally but I scored an 848. I'm just glad I passed the darn thing! I wish to become more involved professionally; I'm not sure if NPTA has a local chapter, but AAPT has one in Greensboro NC. I am still trying to catch up on things. One thing I do know, becoming a CPhT does not make me an expert in Pharmacy. I realize ther is so much more to learn and I want to learn it all, well, as much as possible. I have already begum working on my CE's. I worked hard to pass that test and plan not to lose my certification. Hopefully, I can inspire others to do their best. One year ago I had 6 heart bypasses. One month before the test I was back in the hospital having a stent, since 5 of the 6 vessels had closed. I was determined to take that test! Short of death, nothing was going to stop me. I studied hard, and I decided if I failed I'd be right back there in March ! If you something bad enough, you'll do whatever it takes to get there, no matter the time frame. I wish the best for every Technician! Sincerely CoX CPhT
