Guest guest
Ok well. The exam is done. I'm not sure how well I did. I didn't flop but I didn't do outstanding either, judging by looking up those questions I remember from the exam but had no clue about. Again, my background is not as sound as your average pharmacy technician's. I've been working in a pharmacy for about 7 months now but I only get 4 hours per week, if that. It's an odd situation but it works out quite well as I also manage our store's cosmetics section. So, I studied independently myself and had very informal on- the-job training. Basically, I have some sort of idea of what's going on but I am TOTALLY lost on drug names, interactions, duplications, strengths, and what they do. I did manage to memorize a few drugs and their generics and vaguely what they do, but that's about it. Room temp was nice. The test administrator guy was nice. Everything was pretty comfortable and relaxed. No problems with any of the administration whatsoever. I need to work on... - vertical/horizontal laminar flow hood cleaning - cleanliness and protection as far as washing my hands and my protective clothing - everything associated with unit doses and the cart used in hospitals - drug-duplication and drug-interaction, whether things cause photosensitivity, need to be taken on empty stomach, with food, etc. ....and a few more things. It seemed like much of the test was geared toward a pharmacy technician in a hospital setting. I think retail got the shaft! (or maybe it just seems like that because retail is what I semi-know) No specifics on the questions cause I'm all freaked out about the privacy thing we had to sign. Now it's time to party with friends and celebrate the fact that I can actually do stuff now instead of stay home studying. Shel
