I would only do warm things. Stay on liquids for 2-3 days and see if it gets

better. If not you need an unfill. Be careful

Oh my goodness! Specific instructions here....

DO NOT DRINK/EAT anything for six hours. Nothing by mouth for AT LEAST six hours.

Eggs and bacon can be verrrry bad for a band, some people do quite well, others do not.

Stop everything by mouth for six hours, go on liquids for a full 48 hours. Then go to soft foods, then solids AS TOLERATED. Start off with foods easy to eat. Tuna.. foods such as that. GRADUALLY work into other solids.

If you are unable to do this get an unfill.

Keep in mind, you really don't know what a fill will do until the end of two full weeks. However, if you are unable to even keep saliva down AND you have had NOTHING by mouth for a full six hours, an ER visit might not be a bad thing. If you ate band-unfriendly foods after a fill, that isn't because you are too tight, it is because you ate band unfriendly foods. Each person is different and will tolerate different foods.

Please, keep us updated, tell me how you are doing.

If you need anything call me. 602 791 9429.

Should I drink ice water or warm beverages? I have been iceing everything to help with the inflammation and using hot pad when i have spasms. Any help with this would be wonderful. Tami

Tami, I would suggest that you drink some warm liquids for a couple of days and see if that helps. The warmth typically helps to relax and open up the esophagus. It sounds like you may be having some esophageal spasms. Think of it like a muscle spasm...you know how a heating pad helps ease the tension of that spasm? Well, warm liquids may actually do the same for the esophagus. I would take it real easy on eating anything at all...focus on warm liquids for a couple of days and see if that helps. As long as you can get some fluids in, you will probably be ok but if it gets to the point where you can't, then, you may need to go for an unfill. I had a fill that was too tight one Saturday and was unable to swallow my own salivia until having an unfill the following Wednesday so I know how miserable you are. I completely understand. Just really work on getting those warm fluids

in. You can even heat Gatorade and apple juice if you don't want just warm water. Keep in touch, Jennitamiderr <Tamiderr312@...> wrote: I recently had a fill in Beverly Hills. Tami, how much did the Dr. in Beverly Hills charge for a fill? Where is this Dr. and is he careful? Hi Tami

I just went through what you did and I recommend you get down to

Mexicali ASAP. I had my fill almost 3 weeks ago now. I had the same

symptoms you do and decided to tough it out while I went to Elko, NV

to be with my daughter who was having gall bladder surgery. By last

Saturday I had not been able to keep anything down--including water

for 3 days and had vomited up a lot of stomach acid that morning--not

pleasant! I lost 12 lbs. in 1 1/2 weeks--not a good thing. Part of

it was, of course, dehydration. I called Nina and we drove from Elko

to Mexicali (12 hours--4.5-5 hours from Las Vegas). We got there

about 7:30PM and Dr. Campos picked us up at the border. I described

my symptoms and I think we both were worried I had slipped my band.

He got me all set up and I drank the barium and watched it sit right

there in my pouch! Not 1 drop went down. He unfilled a little and

down it went--whew! what a relief. My pouch and esophagus were both

dialated and I will need to be on liquids for 10 days to help tham to

go back down. I had never met Dr. Campos before and he is

wonderful! Who else would wait around until 8 PM on a Saturday night

to help someone out! And then go pick them up at the border, yet.

Also the radiology guy--don't know his name--waited around for me to

get there! What can I say--they were just great!!!! You NEED to get

down to Mexicali and get an unfill under fluoro before you have a

serious problem!!! Seeing that barium just sitting there was very

scary. It's only 4.5 hours drive down to Mexicali from Las Vegas and

I am telling you it was worth the 12 hours we did so JUST DO IT!!!

Best of luck to you.

my BP is high and doc put me on meds and now I am trying to figure

out my prob.  I take HC and don't want to give that up.   I

increased thyroid med and think that helps (also b/c free T3 and

free T4 were low) and then doc gave me Rx for less thyroid med!   I

have increased Iodoral too, took 200mg today.   I am on my own here.

My BP went up when I didn't have enough thyroid med (the dessicated form) and went down when I upped it. Some doctors think if the BP is up it means there is too much thyroid meds. Another thing that makes me cautious about what they say.

Gracia,

Do you supplement potassium? Long tern use of HC could lower potassium levels.

BP can go up in both hyper and hypo. In hyper, top number will be high, bottom

number low. In hypo, both top and bottom number will be high.

Whatever you do, don't dose by TSH!

OK I really don't think the issue is my thyroid; I've been feeling pretty good at my current dosage and haven't changed it in a long time. I believe it is drop in potassium, as I've been on HC cream for 6 months.

I've been taking potassium and it seems to be helping quite a bit.Thank you!ArielOn Thu, Aug 4, 2011 at 2:41 PM, Barb <baba@...> wrote:

Ariel,Supplementing potassium can be not healthy for you long term. It would be safer for your body to get it from foods high in potassium. I supplemented only about half a bottle a few years ago and was high in potassium for 3 bloodtests of about 18 months. That is hard on kidneys and heart from what my doctor said to me. The supplement seemed like a minor amount but can have a major impact.  Googling symptoms of potassium deficiency may help you to decide. Pam

Thanks Pam, I just started on the potassium because my BP was so high and it'shelping. I think I have too much cortisol now, after being deficient - any ideas on how to lower my cortisol, keep good potassium levels

and not have my BP skyrocket? I'm really scared of a stroke or heart attack and feeling wretched.Should I dramatically lower the HP cream and do it only once a day or...? I've been doing 4x/day, abvout 40 mg/day.

Thank you,ArielP.S. - I don't believe in getting all my nutrition from food because the soil is depleted in nutrients at this point and we don't have an organic store anywhere near us, it's just not practical.

If you drop your HC levels too fast you feel naueous and achy. So if I were you I'd taper down on the HC and if I felt sick Id slow the taper way down or raise back up a bit. I read that it doesn't do any good to tough it out. You have to lower at a healing rate. If you never get sick feeling you are doing great and your adrenals are ready to have less HC. I would start the taper by applying HC 3 times a day and stay there for at least a week before making another adjustmentgood luck to you From: Ariel Monserrat <wolvenwood@...>iodine Sent: Thursday, August 4, 2011 3:23 PMSubject: Re: Re: need help asap

Particularly if you've developed the high blood pressure since taking HC, it

would be prudent to get it checked out. HC by itself can cause high blood

pressure, but the link can also be the HC screwing up potassium levels. I

wouldn't necessarily worry if it's helping, but it would be wise to check your

levels. I think many of us are cautious about taking potassium, but it can make

a huge difference in many symptoms that you may be contributing to some other

cause.

There are a lot of folks on these health groups who supplement HC long term, if

so, it's very important to periodically get potassium levels checked. My

favorite aunt died about a month ago from a heart attack that I know was caused

from potassium deficiency. She had chronic kidney disease and very low

potassium, was on a prescription potassium pill but didn't like taking it

properly as the pills were too large, she kept doing that over a 2 year period.

I know I get particularly bad headaches that are not relieved by OTC pain

medication when my potassium gets too low, supplementing the potassium almost

immediately stops the headache.

Magnesium is also vital for high blood pressure and should be the first course

of action taken prior to prescription meds. At first it can take large amounts

of magnesium but once the BP is under control, smaller doses can manage it. Of

course iodine can help also by normalizing hormone receptor functions.

Sodium effects cell life, waste removal, potassium, nerve transmission, normal

blood pressure and muscle contraction.

Dr. Batmanghelidj, in his book The Body's Many Cries for Water points out that

high blood pressure is caused by loss of fluids, the less fluids, the more the

blood vessels close up, doesn't leave room for gas when blood volume is

decreased and blood vessels constrict. The constriction is what causes high

blood pressure. The less fluids, the more concentrated the blood becomes, which

triggers the vessels to constrict more to prevent water loss. Increasing water

intake, the heart doesn't hang onto sodium, increasing blood volume and makes

the blood more dilute which relaxes and opens up the vessels. This simple method

consistently lowers blood pressure on a long term basis. At least 2 litres a day

of good quality fluoride free water is a must for anyone who wants to stay

healthy and keep blood pressure normal.

Symptoms of Low Potassium

Who's at Risk?

The following people should pay very close attention to their potassium levels

and be aware of potassium deficiency symptoms. Some of the causes of potassium

deficiency include:

# Certain diuretics

# Long-term therapy with corticosteroids and adrenal hormones

# High sodium diets and low in fruits and vegetables

# Prolonged fasting

# Bizarre diets

# Seniors

# Excessive intake of licorice over prolonged periods

# Excessive intake of carbenoxolone

# Profuse sweating over a period of several days can reduce stores of potassium

# Excessive use of laxatives

#

Symptoms of Low Potassium: Health Conditions at Risk?

The following health conditions can cause a potassium deficiency. As such, one

should also be aware of potassium deficiency symptoms.

# Anorexia

# Nervosa

# Alcoholism

# Malnutrition

# Cystic Fibrosis

# Kidney Disease

# Heart Disease

# Diabetes

# Cushing's Syndrome

# Surgical Operations Involving the Bowel

# Extensive Burns and Injuries

# Chronic Diarrhea

# Persistent Vomiting

# Influenza

# Chronic Respiratory Failure

# Anemia

# Ulcerative Colitis

# Inflammatory Bowel Disease

# Excessive Excretion of Aldosterone

Ariel...may I e-mail you off list. As I read about your BP and coristol I think I'm going through the exact same thing.

No it will not. I take Potassium in a supplement. Dr Brownstein's website has a great Pure Zen product for potassium. I think it is called something pH. I did the preliminary testing of this product with him before he developed this product. It worked well for me.

my potassium used to be high, sodium low--not sure what it is now.

my vitamin has potassium in it and I try to eat foods rich in it.

I have never heard that HC lowers potassium but maybe high pot goes

with needing HC.

Thank you to all of you who commented with suggestions/ideas. I'm feeling much better now this morning. I lowered my cortisol intake and my BP is almost normal now; it was potassium deficiency due to several factors which have now been resolved.

THANK YOU to everyone, each of you gave me a piece of the puzzle so I could finally figure it out. ArielOn Fri, Aug 5, 2011 at 9:43 AM, Gracia <circe@...> wrote:
