Hi, I have a few math questions I need help with.

1) How many milligrams of vancomycin are in 1.25 grams per 250 ml of IV

solution?

My guess is 1250 ml because 1.25 g x 1000 mg/1g = 1250 ml

2) Tussionex 12 oz, 2 tsp QD PRN for cough. How many ml is 12 oz and how long

will this last?

30 ml = 1 oz. so, 12 oz x 30 ml/1oz = 360 ml. For the second question, I am

not sure. 360 ml x 1tsp/5ml = 72 tsp is what I have so far. Then, is it 72 tsp

x 1 day/2tsp = 36 days?

3) Ortho - Novum 1/35 #3 months. How long will this last?

I know there are 28 tablets in 1 packet and there are 3 packets in a box. So

far, I've only gotten 28 tablets x 3 packets = 84 tablets. That is as far as I

can get. Not sure what else to do afterwards.

4) A prescription under reads to give 15 mg/kg of vancomycin IV to a patient

who weighs 165 pounds. How many grams of vancomycin will be needed per dose?

I want to make sure that I got my answers correct for this question.

15 mg/kg x 165 lbs x 1 kg/2.2 lbs x 1 g/1000 mg = 2475/2200 = 1.125 grams of

vancomycin.

That's it for now. Thanks in advance!!!
