Guest guest
Hi mistieyed- Did you mean the 0.083% nebules? I'm not retail--- this is what we frequently see ordered in the hospital. Seems to me that the Rph should have called for a clarification. To determine the days supply divide the package quantity by the number of doses per day. Let's say there are 100 units per box. The MD ordered 1 unit q4h to q6hprn-- disp #100. You would divide 100 by 6(that's the max number of doses allowed per day). That would be a 16 day supply. Guest guest
Dear mistieyed I just had to get my dads nebulizer filled when he got home from the nursing home on Jan 3. Infact the product comes in a box of 25. So 50 was dispensed. The first thing I did was calculate how many days 50 of each would last at q8hr. Since this was 3 times a day, that meant 50 /3 = 16.67 days or 16 days and 2 doses. So 16 days. I hope this helps you out. Jeanetta Great work Dora!I agree the strength needed to be clarified. But a tech can call for a clarification of an order. If the answer is different than that which the pharmacist thought it should be then the pharmacist should take the clarification over the phone. If the teck does not ask a 'leading' question, but merely asks what isthe strength we can not read it or need it clarified and it is the same as what the pharmacist thinks then this can be taken over the phone on a refill only. But since this is a new prescription it must be clarified by a pharmacist. > > ok CPHT's HELP!!!!!!! > > > > I think I've lost it.... > > A prescription written for abuterol inhalant for nebulizer. > > use 1 vial q 4 to 6 h prn. > > the script didn't state which strength and we had 2 on system.
