I start my first dose tonight, so wish me luck everyone!! My LDN arrive from Grahams pharmacy contact - my partner is more excited about it than me Epousebar -------Original Message------- From: low dose naltrexone Date: Saturday, 5 June 2004 4:43:49 AM low dose naltrexone Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Hello, all! Just wanted to let you know that Colby will be starting his LDN later this month. I fired the old neuro (not over the LDN, just over his negligence in general) and we're in the market for a new one, but meanwhile we went with Dr. on the phone consult so that we would "greet" the new neuro ALREADY on LDN...Sneaky, huh?For those of you who don't remember, my son is 16, and has been using Rebif. The injections were very painful for him, and we are very excited to have the opportunity to try LDN. I am so thankful to have received so much support on these message boards when I started researching the LDN for him. He will begin it as soon as he finishes the supply of Rebif...I will certainly be back to post and keep you updated on his progress! Thanks again for your help!Kim ____________________________________________________ IncrediMail - Email has finally evolved - Click Here
Guest guest
Hi Kim, I remember you very well. Why wait to start the LDN. I just tossed the Rebif and started the LDN 3 days later. Your son will feel great without the Rebif. When I told my neuro, she said I would be protected for 3 months only after stopping Rebif. I said" Protected from what"?!! Took my chances and never looked back. Don't wait. Kiki
Guest guest
KIM - GOOD LUCK TO YOUR SON. I'VE ONLY BEEN ON LDN A MONTH AND SEE LITTLE BITS OF IMPROVEMENTS, BUT IT'S ENOUGH TO GIVE ME HOPE AND KEEP ON IT ALONG WITH MY COPAXONE. KIM R. Guest guest
Kim - in full disclosure, I have to admit I've never been on any of the ABCR's so maybe my opinion is not all that valid, but I gotta say - do your son a favor and stop the Rebif now. I mean, since you have made the LDN decision, why put him through additional pain and suffering? In for a penny, in for a pound! Best of Luck - and full speed ahead! Guest guest
I am not one to speak either but I will concurr with Cinders why do more painful injections when the track record of them are not that good and in the end you will drop it anyway. Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to the group. I've never heard that Lasix depletes your electrolytes and I've taken it for years for a heart condition. At one time I was taking 160 mgs. It does deplete potassium however, being a loop diuretic, so a supplement should be taken along with it. My cardiologist said that a good rule of thumb is for every 40 mgs Lasix, you should take 20 meq potassium. That being said, NEVER, NEVER, NEVER take Lasix before bedtime! LOL I used to take my evening dose around dinner time so that I wasn't up all night. You don't say how bad the retention is in your legs... keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't get better, then you should have further testing done, most notably your BnP level. Take care, Zazzy dx: Jan. 2001 [ ] Hello, All! Dear friends, Hello everyone. My name is and I am 31 years old and have two sons, a 2 year old and a 4 year old. I was diagnosed on July, 2007 and have been on 400mg of Gleevec since that time. I am treated at NY Hospital by Dr. Schuster. I have posted on the Asian support group so some of you already know me. Thank you for welcoming me into this group and I hope to get to know you guys and be part of your web of support. I have been suffering from edema of the lower legs, ankles, and feet. I was wondering if some of you who have experienced these side effects could tell me how you were treating this and if it went away or not. The doctor gave me Lasix to take as needed and I took a pill last night before I went to bed. I don't think it helped much aside from making me get up all night to urinate. Also, I had bad cramps in my thigh in the morning and had to drink some Gatorade to replenish electrolytes. I'm not sure I want to keep taking the diuretics. Maybe I am not giving them enough time to work... I would appreciate some feedback on this from anyone who has had edema in their lower legs. I see a lot of postings about the edema around the eyes but not that much about it in the legs. I hope everyone is feeling well and staying healthy. Thank you, NYC
Guest guest
Hey, Zazzy! Ah, so that is what I did wrong, to take it at night. I am so glad that you told me this. As far as the severity of the edema, it is worse under my ankles and on my feet. My feet, at times look like balloon animals. Hee, hee. This just started about two weeks ago and I have been taking Gleevec since July of last year. I think the warm weather contributed to it somewhat. Thank you for responding to me so quickly, I have seen your postings on the LLS CML discussion board and I can tell that you are a warm and caring person.
