Hi There-

OK, first figure out how much each tablet will cost

55.60/100= 0.556 cents per tab, but lets just round that up to 0.56

cents per tab.

Now multiply cost per tab by the quantity ordered...in this case its

30 tabs. .56 X 30 = $16.80 this is your cost---you still need to

figure out the selling price.

Selling price= [cost+(cost X markup percent)]+dispensing fee

Remember to work from the 'inside out'---solve whats in the

parentheses first, then what's in the brackets

Selling price = [16.80+(16.80 X 15%)] + $6.00...[change your percent

to a decimal]

Selling price= [16.80 + (16.80 x .15)]+ 6.00

Selling price= (16.80 + 2.52)+ $6.00

Selling price= 19.32+6.00= $25.32

.

Here's another way to say it:

(16.80 x 1.15) + 6.00= 25.32

Hope this helps.

I love proportions and here is how I solved it.

How much would 30 tabs cost:

100 tabs - $55.56

30 tabs - $ X X = $16.668

Now calculate how much the 30 tabs will cost with a 15% markup:

$16.668 - 100%

X - 115% X = $19.168

Now add $6.00 dispensing fee:

19.168 + 6 = $25.17

I only wonder why my answer is a bit different than the answer in the

other post. Hers was 25.32

Our numbers are different because I rounded the cost of each tab up

to 0.56 from 0.5556. So my beginning base cost was 16.80 not 16.668

For the sake of instructional purposes I probably should not have

rounded, but the " real life " part of me prevailed. ;)
