Yes Sharon I have heard of the Genesis Bread by Food For Life Company.

I order my EZ 4:9 bread, Ez 4:9 english muffins and Ez 4:9 hotdog buns

direct from Food 4 Life Co.

Kamut is an ancient wheat also like Spelt. In Dr. D'Adamo's Heart Book

it is a grain we O's can have frequently.

(PST+3) Hi Everyone,

Has anyone ever heard of Genesis bread? It had a chapter and verse # on

it the same as Ezekial does. I accidently grabbed it in the HFS. It is

from the same company as the Ezekial bread but with a different colour

on the label. It says it is made from sprouted grains and looks and

feels exactly like Ezekial but with some seeds in it.

The other question is about Kamut. Is that a wheat or is it like spelt

where it is an older form of wheat that is okay?

Thanks,

Sharon (Ontario) Canada

Did you say that the ingredients in the Genesis bread are also all sprouted?

Does sprouting make corn o.k. for us? It wouldn't seem so to me....personally,

corn is about the worst thing for me to eat.

Genesis bread and Ezekel bread are close but not exactly alike. Did you notice

the differences when I sent this out Wednesday? The main one I'm concerned about

is the corn.

Thanks for the information . I didn't get your answer on Wed. I

resent my questions because I never even saw my own e-mail. I don't know

what is wrong with my posts but definitely something. I get some but

I am sure that I am missing some also.

Anyway, I figured that there must be some difference because I had never

heard it mentioned anywhere. I just bought it accidentally once when I was

in a hurry.

Thanks again.

That's why I resent, Sharon. I know I don't always get all of them. It might be

that weather makes a difference. Sometimes there might be a terminal closer or

flicker before the messages all get sent where they are supposed to go, and not

all of them make it.

Gretchen,

I've always accepted that corn is corn and anything even derived from it is a

no, no. I think B's are the only ones who can enjoy it and not be eating an

Hey Jane, you have to give your body a chance to recover alot of

weight is from the surgery itself and then you'll start seeing more

weight come of at a steady pace. Also depends on how much you have

to lose, those that are heavier tend to lose more cause there's just

so much to lose. Don't give up!! Also, don't fall into the insanity

of weighing every day (I should listen to my own advice on this

one). One thing I didnt do was to take measurements, I can kick

myself for not doing so...so if you have someone to take

measurements do so, you'll see progress. I know after my second fill

I was getting discouraged but so far since Oct 7th I've lost 16lbs,

so no more complaining here! Just give the body time, also drink

your water as well as getting your protein in, water helps get the

metabolism going and you'll see the weight drop as well. Have you

started a work-out program? I started walking around the

neighborhood, then upped it to 3miles then I joined a gym about

4mths out of surgery. The weight will come off, and remember that

everyone is different here. You've lost quite a bit of weight

already, so hats off to you! As for your mom, the port area

sometimes takes a bit to heal, I know for me I couldnt even think of

sleeping on my stomach until 6mths afterwards...again everyone is

different. Tell her to be careful with her lifting, and how she

twists her body...at this stage your still in the healing

process...be kind to yourself! :) Good Luck!

I lost 16 pounds in the first 3 weeks, then I stalled. BUT -- this past week is

the first time I've

gotten compliments on losing weight, so I figure that my body is just taking

some time to do

some adjustments!

Is it Jane? you didnt sign your name. But I had my surgery the 6th of

october and I am at the exact same place as you! I am at 17 lbs and at

a stailmate. nothing moving, nothing happening!! grrrr very

frusturating huh! are you getting 800 cals a day? because Nina told

me that is what we are supposed to be getting. and I think my problem

is that I have no restriction so I am able to eat to much. do you have

restriction? maybe that is your problem too? plus for some reason I

think at this phase alot of people stop for a few weeks? hang in

there, I am hoping this week something will happen. otherwise I feel

like I am starving myself for nothing and that makes me just want to

eat! like I told my husband if I was hardly eating the scale was

moving I wouldnt mind so much, but when you sacrifice food and then you

dont loose weight it is like " what am I dont this for? " ! plus I feel

pressure from people too, because everyone keeps asking me " so how much

have you lost? and I think they are expecting me to say like 30lbs or

something and when I say 17 for and then they see me again and I say

that again, they look at me like " didnt you have weight loss surgery " ?

and we are going to my sister in laws in utah for thanksgiving and I

was wanting to be down more by then, so I could show off some noticable

progress.

hey email me and we can help each other along!

take care,

hugs,

, Don't get too discouraged. It is rather interesting that I remember going through the exact frustration that you are facing right now. I lost weight the first 2 or 3 weeks and then I didn't know if the scale would ever move again! I asked the same questions on the board, drove Nina crazy, and dreaded for people to ask me how much I had lost. But, then, somehow, the weightloss started again and the pounds simply melted away on it's own time frame. You will lose again. Your body is facing some trauma, my dear. Our bodies were so accustomed to having an over abundant amount of food constantly inside that not having very much to digest and work with probably scared the mess out of our bodies and they were so afraid that they would never have enough food again so they held onto every single morsel and wouldn't dare let any go to waste! There will be other times in this weightloss

journey that you will reach short (but feel like forever) plateaus. Those are simply times that your body has to catch up and sort of readjust to the different amount of food it is receiving. Be patient! (I'm such a fine example of patientce! NOT!!!) Make sure you are getting enough of the right calories in each day. I find that if I stop losing for longer than a week, it is probably due to something I am doing to sabbatoge my weightloss efforts. You know, like eating one too many bags of Reese's Pieces or going for that extra scoop of ice cream over my alloted 2 scoops per week rule! Are you exercising? If not, start. If you are, crank it up a little. Buy yourself a pedometer and strive to get in at least 12,000 steps each day. 10,000 steps each day helps you maintain your current weight. 12,000 helps you lose. And, like everyone else will tell you, don't weigh every day. Look at your

measurements. Find some way to notice the changes that don't require the scale. Have you seen those commercials where the people are walking around with their scales chained to thier ankles? Well, that is me! Yes, I weigh every single day (sometimes more than once for some stupid reason!) but it helps me stay in check with what I am doing. I don't let it get me down but I let it keep me focused on what I am doing. Yeah, there are times when I get irritated at not losing at the rate in which I want to lose but, still, I manage to lose. I am 8 months out of surgery. I have lost 80 pounds. And that is in spite of those 2 plateaus that seemed to last FOREVER! The first plateau lasted about 6 weeks and the second one lasted about 7 weeks. I thought I would never lose anymore weight during those two phases. Now, looking back over 8 months, I stand amazed! So, be patient! Remember, the joy is in

the journey! You are a beautiful person and you should hold your head up, be proud of those 17 pounds you have lost and go buy something new to wear to your sister's house for Thanksgiving! Enjoy! Jenni, NO YOU are the BEAUTIFUL PERSON inside and out!!!! :-) thank

you so much for those words of encouragement, you made me cry! you

are so encouraging, and that really made me feel so much better.

Thank you! Isnt it funny how you can get so down or have a bad day

and then you find some encouragement and it boosts you back up again

and sets you back on your course?! It is the people like you that

are on the board and have been successful that helps us newbies to

stay the course and look at what you have done and say " we can do

that to " !!! :-)

big hugs and have a great day!!

your weight startts to slow down a bit while coming down, but you will

still lose! Beleive it or not, your inches are pouring off too. You

Thanks for responding and keeping me motivated! I was hoping for

more loss by Thanksgiving too. I just measured myself yesterday

because I had not done that before and so I'm hoping to have a NSV

thorugh measurement changes when I don't see the scale move.

We definately have to keep each other motivated...especially with

the holidays coming on. I don't have a fill yet..figured it was too

soon. Maybe I'd better check on that. When are you getting one?

HI Jane. :-) I am actually getting my first fill next week on

thursday the 16th. I am going to Dr. Neil in olympia washington.

and they sound very, very nice and they dont mind at all that I had

my surgery done in mexico. I have heard some say that Dr's treat

them rudely because of that, but this office is very nice and I dont

even think a Dr. does the fill, I think it is a nurse. I so excited

to get my fill. I am nervous, because since I have started eating

foods, I do find things my band doesnt like (as everyone does) but I

am doing this one week before thanksgiving. arghhhh I am not going

to be able to eat much that day, it will be hard, but in a way I am

so glad, because that way I wont be taking the chance of gaining over

that day. at least I have a week to sort of get used to the new

feeling of the band with a fill. my body let go of another pound woo

hooo. so today it gave me inspiration to do really good and I drank

major water and green tea. I find green tea helps me because it

helps to flush the body and get rid of that fat!!! :-) I am also

stepping up my work outs. I am doing 30 minutes aerobics in the

morning and then doing weights with my son at night. he is a jock

and is working out with me and it is pretty cool. lol I dont think

he realizes how strong this ole gal is. lol I was able curl 70lbs

and do a leg press on 90 lbs. so pretty soon I am going to be a

mean, lean sexy machine. lol lol :-)

well everyone have a great day!

big hugs,

Hey to all, I've been lurking on the message board and reading your

posts. I've been in a funk about my weight as I lost 10 lbs after

banding (DOB: 10/6/06) but nothing more. In fact, I say 10 lbs but

I've gained and lost the same 2 lbs about 10 times in the past 3

weeks. I was more than a little bit discouraged but now I'm seeing

that this is normal and, well, heck -- in retrospect, a 10 lb weight

loss in 1 month is pretty good. At that rate I'll be at my goal by

September. AND, while I haven't measured I Know that my clothes are

looser (some are even baggy) and I have gotten a few comments re: my

weight loss -- All VERY good things.

Halloween was especially hard for me. I didn't keep candy in the

house until the Saturday before but I would not (started to say could

not) keep my chubby little hands out of the candy dish. I kept

tellin my kids, " I'm throwing this candy away tomorrow so take what

you want now " . And they'd just say OK but I could not bring myself to

throw that junk away. It was CRAZY. My tie to food was so strong

that I could not toss that stuff -- amazing. Finally, I said enough

is enough and I took it to a receptionist at my work. I made her

promise me 2 things she was NOT to bring the candy into my building

(we have two). Other than that I told her to throw it away, put it

out for the ees, take it home, whatever. Finally -- free at last

free at last.

Today, my scale moved down at last. But I really have the munchies

today and am about at my calorie allocation already -- YIKES.

, you mention that you are getting a fill next week. Are we

too soon for that? I'd like to get my first fill too. I also need

to step up the exercise but 's challenge was too much for me

right now. I need exercise but going from 0 [minutes] to 60 [minutes]

I felt was setting myself up for failure.

Thanks everyone for your encouraging words.

Hugs,

and , I am going to tell you what Nina has always told me throughout this weightloss journey we are on....RELAX! Don't be so hard on yourself! Nina can tell you that I have been pretty darn obsessive about this whole thing. I followed the diet exactly as Dr. Aceves prescribed. I tried to do everything exactly right. It worked. I lost the weight. I exercised. I exercised some more. I didn't eat anything I shouldn't eat or, when I did, I held myself accountable for it and I made adjustments when I needed to do so. Basically, I was pretty darn obsessive. Everytime I would ask Nina something, she would say the same thing...."Relax, Jenni! Don't be so hard on yourself!" Well, it has taken me almost 9 months but I am finally at the point where I am relaxed about this whole thing! I haven't reached my goal yet but I am really close. I know

that I can get there but I'm not so obsessive about my journey as I was before. Yeah, I still weigh at least once a day (usually 3 or 4 times!) but I use that simply as a guide. I have not lost any weight (except from being sick) to speak of but that is ok. I am able to eat a little more now than I would like to eat but I'm just waiting to schedule a fill. Constantly remind yourselves that this is a LIFELONG journey. This isn't going to happen over night. I know it seems a little farfetched but, just think, nine months from now you may be looking at someone 100 pounds lighter! At this point that may seem impossible but, I am proof that this does work! If someone had told me last January that I would weigh 80 pounds less by now I wouldn't have believed them either. But, here am. It works. Keep your head up and be proud that you both have made this gigantic leap towards a healthier you. You can do

this! We are all here cheering you on. Jenni Currie Judge <thevajudge@...> wrote: Hey to all, I've been lurking on the message board and reading your posts. !!!! Hey girl, I am so happy you stopped " lurking " and

wrote to tell us how you are doing. I have thought of you so many

times and wondered how you were doing!! :-) isnt it great to be past

those first few weeks. arghhh, those weeks sucked! How is your band

doing with foods? are you having problem with anything yet? I

really need to get better to my band. I think I am trying to eat

things that dont agree. Yesterday I ate a few bites of some pumkin

bread. OHG! I had a aweful time, and my band is so not ready for

that! I slimed and pb'd for a 1/2 hour. it was the worst case of

sliming and pb'ing I have had yet!! I felt like it balled up in my

stomach and just blocked my stoma. it was so horrible. so I need to

be much more careful on stuff like that. so I am going back to

really soft foods today. it seems like maybe I am trying to push my

band to much. sometimes I Think " well this is soft and if I chew it

well it will be good " . well not always the case! another thing that

kills me is to eat to fast. this is a life long habit I

have " especially as a hairdresser " . Hairdressers always eat on the

run, we are always eating on the fly. But i need to learn to sit and

take a long time to eat. Because when I eat fast I get major

problems!

I did talk to Nina and the fill doctor and they said that 6 weeks is

ok. so that is what it will be when I get my first fill. But then I

will have to really watch what I eat and I will have to really eat

slow. I dont want to slime and pb it is so aweful and I get scared

everytime I do it, because I am so afaid of my band slipping!

Again I am so glad you posted! It was so good to hear from

you! You are doing really good!! I have a question for you though,

are you watching your cals? we should be at 800 cals a day, and that

adds up really fast. so if you want to jump start the weight loss,

watch those cals, drink lots and lots and lots of water and get that

body moving!!! then you will start to see those pounds melt off!

not that 10lbs is anything to baulk at, because that is really

great! But we need to keep our selves motivated!!! :-) when I have

a bad day, I have to kick myself in the butt and say " k girl today is

a new day lets do this right, lets get those pounds off!!!! "

keep us posted on your progress! :-)

Jenni, I know you and Nina are so right about saying to relax, but

like you were at first " I cant " !! I want to loose this darn weight!

so I try to keep myself in check and try not to be to obsessed, but i

try to check myself daily and make sure I am doing this right.

but thank you guys for reminding us not to be get to obsessed and for

your bringing us back down to earth when we need it!! :-)

Girls, after your first fill the weight loss starts to kick in. I had lost about 12 lbs right away and it was a struggle until I received my first fill. There are some days I'm restricted more than others and the days that I'm not restricted I'm e-mailing Nina to schedule me for a fill and then a week later I'm canceling because, my restrictions kicked in again. So It's all about working with the band. The days I'm not restricted I try to watch my calorie intake. I had surgery done June 30 weight 299 and now weighing 242.8 as of this morning. Yup, I finally broke through, I was stuck at 245 for the longest time I was up one lb. down one lb. and I was driving myself and family crazy. I was obsess with the scale and would get so upset for being stuck.. I stayed away from the scale and tried to stay away from salty food,

such as sunflower seeds, that's my snack and I know it's so bad for me because, of the salt. But I love them and have no problem getting them down. Don't eat them though they are not good for you and they are addicting. Any how, I finally stayed away from the scale and sunflower seeds, and I did it. So I'm on my way down again. Don't give up, the band really works. I want to cry every time I think ho wonderful this band really is and there is no way I would of ever been able to do this on my own. I'm a new person and I'm actually starting to like what I see. Love my band. ,

Today, I called a doctor in Sacramento which is where I live and

tried to set up an appointment. He actually has a website that has

Dr. A as one of the referring physician choices when you are filing

out registration forms. That was cool to know he respects Dr. A.

that much. I'm hoping to get in next week too so I can get the fill

done before Turkey Day...sadly, my body hasn't let go of anything

this week. I've been doing yoga in the morning, though not this

week because I threw my back out on Saturday, and walking in the

evening. It's great that you get to work out with your son!! What

a neat time together each day.

Keep in touch and stay STRONG! Let me know when you hav the fill

scheduled and how it goes.

Hi , Sounds like you may not need a fill yet with all that PB-ing going on! LOL....( sorry, I know it sucks!) Are you having trouble with most foods? or just specific foods? You know the weight loss will slow down in the beginning and if you still have restriction it will pick-up again. I got my first fill at 7weeks and could eat anything, all foods with out any problems whatsoever!! So I knew I was ready! They say any weight loss before a fill is a bonus and the average monthly (not necessarily weekly) is 4-10 lbs. I had a few months were I only lost 1-3 so be patient it all adds up in the long run. I got fills when I was noticeably hungry, or able to eat wayyy more than I had been. I would hate you to pay all that money if you are still restricted from the surgery and end up too tight and need an unfill! (Me and Jenni can testify!). Some people's bands are tight for months just from placement, but most do loosen after a few weeks. I know Penny said she was so

tight after surgery that she could only sip liquids for over 2 months! And my band buddy Betty was tight for nearly 4months before hers loosened up!... Jeez!! Anywho...let the journey begin, PB-ing and all, it's worth it in the end!
