Hi All-

It was so nice to see everyone and to meet some new people at the

NPTA convention. I had a great time! Thanks to all the

" dotters " --

You make me feel welcomed. You're an intelligent and fun loving

bunch. I'm always learning something new from you! The

" dot " party

was a blast and I had the great pleasure of seeing propose (on

bended knee) to Lorraine! Congrats to both!

I had to dash to catch a plane so I missed saying good-bye to most

of you.

Tracie: Congrats on the Tech of the Year award. WooHoo---way to go!

Joy: Thanks for being my roomie

Lorraine: You are the dancing queen---if only I had half your energy.

: Nice jokes.

Anne: Let me know,OK?

ChattyPatty: Hope you get a computer to go with your MP3

Jeanetta: Nice " spots " Hope you find your dot shirt.

Jeanetta has given a good summary of the info provided during the

general assemblies so I'll give some highlights of my own

experiences.

I hosted a table at the Career Pathways Forum on Sunday. My table

(Ambulatory Infusion Clinic) was just one of many practice settings.

Some of the other tables included Home care Infusion, Mail order,

Correctional Facilities, Clinical Techs, Compounding, Tech Educators,

and many many more. It was a wonderful opportunity to share

information and experiences. Thanks to all those who stopped by. I

truly enjoyed talking with you. For those attending next year's

convention, I highly recommend checking it out.

The first CE program I attended was titled " Clinical Pharmacy

Technician " by Deborah Celeya and Lezlie Cohn-Oswald. Like the

title

implies, their presentation discussed the duties and responsibilities

of the clincal techs. My job is very similar to theirs' so I

found

the program very interesting and informative.

I also attended programs on JCAHO and the DEA. While you may think

these programs would be " dry " and hard to stay awake

in---they were

anything but!!!

Dr Massaro was the speaker for the JCAHO program: Shared

Visions - New Pathways Resources

Anybody who has survived a JCAHO survey will definitely appreciate

the upcoming changes. For one, the number of hospital standards will

be reduced from 550 to 256. The scoring methods will be changing as

well so that it will be less subjective more objective. You can view

the whole power point presentation and other information at the JCAHO

website:

http://www.jcaho.org/accredited+organizations/svnp/svnp_index.htm

Vickie Seeger,Rph was the speaker for " DEA-Is it Legitimate?

Strategies for Assessing Questionable Prescriptions and DEA

Considerations " She was a wonderful speaker with great

" stories " and

very straightforward answers to our many questions. Some good news

she shared with us…we can look forward to an online form 222

within

the next few months.
