Guest guest
You'll need to check with Board of Pharmacy in the state you will be transferring to. Requirements vary from state to state. Once you've met the criteria needed for the state you are in, hit the street. Some of the chains like Walgreens and CVS have on the job training programs. willingess to work weekends and odd shifts is a real plus--- especially if you're shy on experience. That you also wish to pursue pharmacy school could work in your favor as well. How's your resume? Does it need updating? Be sure to include your goal of pharmacy school. How was your work ethic at your last job? Some employers may favor reliability, punctuality, and a desire to learn over job experience. Guest guest
Dear Downstairspiral, I totally agree with Dora on all points; especially about each state being different in qualifications. However I will add the following for what it is worth: 1. Definitely let them know about your goals. 2. Let them know you are a member of this site and/or other professional organizations such as AAPT, ASHP, APhA or NPTA. 3. Let them know that you are seriously persuing pharmacy, and that you hope not only to be a technician, but perhaps in the future being 'sponsored' by them during rotations. In this way you let them know that you will still be sticking around and not leaving just because or when you go to pharm school. Always remember that they are looking for a tech not a pharmacist, so if you spend tooooo much time on the topic of going to pharm school they may see you as one they will train only to loose you in a very short time frame. So it is important to let them know that you aren't going anywhere soon, yet you would like a 'home', a job/career choice as well as to persue pharm school, that you would like to " give back to them " . I hope this helps you out. Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron Founder/Owner > > >
