Guest guest
I called them. They update their systems on TUesdays. If you look at their website, you can view if you are registered or not yet. When I called, they said it would take about 2 wks. I am hoping mine is okayed on Tuesday. Then when it is, you dont have to wait until you receive the post card to pay, you can just pay on line. beth --- yuriy04 <yuriy04@...> wrote: > It's been about a week so far. > > __________________________________________________

Guest guest
State registrations? I passed the test in July. Finally got around to getting myself fingerprinted and writing a check and sending it of to the Mo State Board of Pharmacy in November. I called them right before Christmas about the status. There's a 16 week backlog. However, a local grocery chain has contacted me about a weekend only job and as long as the registration is pendin/being processed by the state you are a-ok to work. Guest guest
Well, I am in Texas, so I had to register with the Texas pharmacy board. That is the site I went to. I did not have to pay anything, when I called, they said I would pay when I was registered, and that they mail a letter, and you return the money or go on line and pay. beth --- yuriy04 <yuriy04@...> wrote: > which site are you reffering to? Guest guest
Thats what they told me when I called, but I live in Texas, maybe its different. It took just 2 weeks to get my tech in training certificate. beth --- civilcode <buynsaleph@...> wrote: > is that true onlt 2 weeks? > > Beth <ebeth1118@...> wrote: I called > them. Guest guest
Sorry folks, I was away on Saturday so I did not post on this when it was first posted. Had I been here I would have immediately asked you which state you were talking about. In California, the time it takes to hear back from the state board of pharmacy is not a set time. Some of my students hear within 1 month, others within 6 months. The average is about 2-3 months to clear fingerprints and qualifications etc. Other states may take less time especially if fingerprints are not required. Checks or money orders are usually cashed asap. Hope this helps. Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner of this site yuriy04 <yuriy04@...> wrote: It's been about a week so far. Guest guest
Really up to 6 month? Thats crazy considering I believe Jeanetta has said that one could not work untill this process is completed. Luckily, I don't need to work right now, although I'd like to. But, thats just too long too wait if one needs to work right away. It's been about a week so far. > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Dear Yuri, Law is Law! And protecting the public ( Q. Public) is the main goal of pharmacy. Therefore checking the state qualifications including education, certification, fingerprints (criminal background check) etc is a MUST. All of which takes time. This is what your $50 in California to State Board of Pharmacy is used for! It is not an automatic thing. I can not speak for other states, as my experience and knowledge is in Ca. One year I presented a CEU on state laws and how they vary, each time I looked up a state it would change within a month or so. It was one of the hardest CEU's I have ever had to prepare for. constant and radical change is currently going on in all states. I have heard that land is going to require PTCB soon. Some states may issue a temporary permit to practice or train in pharmacy, which ones I do not know. But what I am saying is that I do not know ALL of the state laws. I do not believe anyone on this site does! So this site depends upon the input of members from various states 'in the know'. Because of this much is 'hearsay' and MUST be checked out by each individual member by visiting the site for the state board of pharmacy for their individual state and if necessary making calls to the board. I would accept truth from those who teach and must get the students eligible for hire, those that do hiring and those who 'recently' have gone through a registration, education, certification and/or hiring process. To be blunt: YES you must wait until the state board of pharmacy of a given state verifies your qualifications. The time will vary from state to state, time of year and work load of the board. Hope this helps you out, Respectfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator/Program Director Founder/Owner of this site It's > been about a week so far. > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Dear All, Once again NOT in the state of California. So it may be okay in MO, to work while paperwork is pending, but NOT in CA and NOT in Washington and MANY other states. But I would CAUTION you to CHECK with your state board of pharmacy ESPECIALLY if your employer is an independant small pharmacy. Some pharmacists are not up on the recent changes in the state laws. State board inspectors do not usually go out on the weekends to check pharmacies. So some places will try to hire you for weeekend work only until your paperwork goes through. YES I know it is against the law in some states. But what is done in practice and what is the law are two different things. I am not saying it is the most common, just that it can happen. Example: the posted speed limit is 35mph, but many drivers knowingly break the law driving at 45 mph. KNOW your STATE LAW by checking it out YOURSELF!!! My students are currently waiting for about 3 months.
