Guest guest
Once again, bravo Aegis! I have only had one MRI to date which was used to dx MS in Feb this year. Wanting a second (and 3rd) Neuro opinion, it occured to me that if each Neuro only read the report, which I suspected might be the case, they would probably come to the same conclusion given the report from the Radiologist was worded pretty specifically with respect to the likelihood of MS. Therefore, I sent a copy of the MRI to another Radiologist who reviewed it, and had a VERY DIFFERENT perspective on what that MRI had to say. The first sighted 10 lesions, the second felt ony 1 was clearly an issue with 2 others suspect (all 10 spots possibly " normal " for a 49 year old guy). The first report indicated MS was quite likely, the second indicated MS was only likely if other definitive symptoms were present, and other possible causes ruled out. Given a severe case of Optical Neuritis in my left eye and a 5 year old numb side (suggested to be an " MS Hug " by several good folks here), MS does seem likely. The issue for posting to the LDN site is deciding what constitutes reliable and accepteable " evidence " to those we want reviewing it. If possible, I believe posting both the report and the pictures may be the best solution, as eliminating as many questions or " objections " as possible is the best way to present these kinds of " clinical " results. Even if Doctors reading posted reports don't look at the pictures, just having them there gives the reports more credibility (providing the source data). I was able to get a copy of my MRI on CD and would assume that most of the more recent MRIs might be available in file format. Before getting a second opinion on the reading of my MRI, I would have ssumed the reports would be sufficient for posting. Apparently reading MRIs is more " art " than science, and most certainly subject to a readers bias, and even the equipment used when reading it. Hope this is helpful, Best, Alan

A few hundred before and afters may show something. The trouble with MRI's is the positioning of the slices. MS lesions are usually very small so if a " after " slice is positioned just a tiny little bit differently to the equivalent " before " slice the lesion will look different and may be missing altogether.
