Guest guest
Dear All, The opening statement/phrase " AAPT, NPTA & PTEC UNITE " may mislead some one to read more into what this press release says. I wish to clarify that the three leading organizations will remain individualized and continue to serve our needs within their individual capacity, a specific ways and means, talents and interests. What it does say is that AAPT, PTEC and NPTA, the three leading Rx Tech Associations, will have a united voice to represent the common good of all Rx Technicians of the USA at the global FIP congress and conferences. FIP is a global organization called The Federation of International Pharmaceutical Sciences and is associated with WHO, World Health Organization. To learn mor about FIP go to: http://www.fip.org/ For more info on other pharmaceutical conferences this year go to the menu and click on events list. I for one am very, very happy that all American Rx Technicians will be represented at future FIP meetings. If we are to be represented there, then we must be first represented nationally here in this country. It would not be right for one tech organization to claim to represent all of the US techs, when two other major organizations exist. I applaud the efforts and achievements made by the leaders of the three main US Rx Tech associations to represent the common good of all US technicians in an effort to 1. standardize education 2. standardize qualifications and certifications 3. standardize competencies 4. increase recognition and representation 5. increase monetary compensation at market value I am sure that the leaders of AAPT, PTEC and NPTA have more on their list than I do on mine. Cheers! Here ! Here! to ,CPhT - President of AAPT Mike ston, CPhT - Executive Director of NPTA Robin Luke, CPhT - Vice-Presiden of NPTA Jeanie Barkett, RPh - President of PTEC Who made history in our domestic and global representation for the common good of all US techs. I am EQUALLY happy to know that the three individual organizations remain intact and will continue to represent us and serve us as only they individually can. The local networking and national presence of AAPT, the educational efforts and academic values of PTEC and the national presence and co- ordinating efforts of NPTA are so much appreciated and valued individually. Respecfully, Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BSChem Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner PS for the record I am not currently a member of any of the above groups! I have been sooooo busy I accidently let my membership to AAPT and NPTA slide! I better get on the stick! :)and hope they are not reading this ! > Hi All- > > Here's a cut and paste of a press release I received from NPTA. > Please visit their site for additional tech news > http://www.pharmacytechnician.org > ********************************************************************* * > > AAPT, NPTA & PTEC UNITE > In a historic effort, delegates of AAPT, NPTA and PTEC (the three US > organizations focused on pharmacy technicians) met on Labor Day, 9- 6- > 04, in New Orleans and signed an official Statement of Unity. > > Here is the content of the Statement of Unity: > > " As a historic event at the FIP meeting in New Orleans, selective key > leaders of AAPT, NPTA and PTEC met for the first time to establish a > united voice for pharmacy technicians. > > We respect the history and culture of our respective organizations. > > We commit to proactively work togethor to address technician issues, > such as member's needs, education (both initial and continuing), > roles and responsabilities, certification, regulations and their > impact on patient care. > > We plan to continue our association togethor on an international, as > well as domestic, scope in the united belief in the value of pharmacy > technicians in the practice of pharmacy.
