Guest guest
I have read where many have used both and then after a while stopped the rebif anyway. Guest guest
My recollection is that Rebif is counterproductive to LDN, per Dr. Bihari; if you are using both, they may well be cancelling each other out. I'm curious: you say cutting back on rebif "did not work" for you - what does that mean? Guest guest
instead of 3 injections per week, i tried 2, and ms symotoms were more noticeable...and believe me i am aware this could be my imagination, but my balance and walking were worse, now that i am on 3x a week, it is better, i was able to go shopping with my daughter last night, on my feet for 4 hours straight. so i am a person with ms who takes ldn and rebif, i will ask my doctor about copaxone, but i really don't want to inject qd. the ldn definitely makes my bladder/bowel function much better, that alone is worth it to me, i had a constant uti before i started naltrexone... -------------- Original message -------------- My recollection is that Rebif is counterproductive to LDN, per Dr. Bihari; if you are using both, they may well be cancelling each other out. Guest guest
I understand that Dr. Bihari is the most experienced and trusted person in regards to LDN usage. I have argued the following point several times. Is his comment about LDN and interferons based on theory or on actual occurences where interferons interfered with LDN's effectiveness? He argues on his web site that Copaxone is ok because it is an immunomodulator but the interferons cancel out LDN because they are immunosuppressants. But, if you look on the NMSS web site and several other sources, the interferons are classified as immunomodulators just like Copaxone. I remember asking Biogen this same question when I started taking Avonex and there reply was that it is an immunomodulator. I do take both and have not noticed any sort of negative effect. I only do both to ease my wife's mind because of the research behind Avonex and my success thus far but if it was solely up to me, I'd go 100% LDN. But, I do understand her argument that Avonex has been shown to have some effectiveness in slowing down the disease whereas there is no scientific proof backing LDN. LDN is immunomodulated upwards(upregulates/boosts), Beta, Avonex, Rebif are immunomodulators that direct the immune system downward(downregulates/suppresses). Guest guest
Connie, is the LDN working for you? If yes, leave it alone! I was on Rebif, which is what made me search for something else because it was killing me slowly. Luckilly I found LDN which gave me a life. Research their "anecdotal" numbers....they stink. How dare they agree to give you Rebif based on anecdotal evidence and not ever consider LDN's anecdotal evidence. That is because Rebif is $17,000 a year. (that is what it was when I was on it). Kiki PS I am either SP or PP not sure and niether are the neuros!
Guest guest
Connie, Dr. Bihari advises that they conflict. Rebiff suppress' the immune system, LDN enhances it. I didn't think Rebif helps SPMS, but the dr. and the rep both said that anecdotal info shows it does. I'd like to try this, but I don't know if it is compatible with LDN. Guest guest
Connie, Think twice before starting Rebif, several of us had such a bad experience with it we searched and finally found LDN. So to that end I'm grateful. You would have to stop LDN while taking Rebif, Copaxone is the only crab drug that is compatible. If you're like me, you just have to experience Rebif, let me try to save you the pain and discomfort, think twice. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Guest guest
I know 3 people who have been on Rebif and they got onto it very in their diagnosis and are doing well. Dont discourage people - everbody is different - regardless of what people use to help their S MS, its important to get onto some sort of treatment very early. Just find what works for you providing the side effects or known long term uses dont cause too many dramas. All the best Friday
Guest guest
Hi, I have to ask what is probably a stupid question: Are Rebif and Avonex the same?? I seem to remember reading that somewhere. Also, if one has to quit taking Avonex in order to start ldn, is there a waiting period? Thanks ine --- noclue915@... wrote: > Connie, is the LDN working for you? Guest guest
ine, Rebif is taken 3 x week sub Q and Avonex is 1x intermuscular. Rebif and Avonex are basically same chemically but Rebif is much more potent, maybe because it is taken 3x and probably why you feel like crap all the time. Neuro told me that I would be protected from Rebif up to 3 months after I stop.(Protected from what????) I started LDN two days after I stopped the Rebif and it has been 16months now. I had told Dr. B that I had just stopped the Rebif and was OK to start LDN and he said Yes. Kiki
Guest guest
Can anyone tell me what effects would be expected from taking both Rebif and LDN? I am fortunate that I have minimal side effected from the Rebif except for the site irritation. I started Rebif in March 2003 and added LDN on 8/13/04. I feel better with the LDN, but I wonder how much better I would feel if I dropped the Rebif. Thanks. > ine, Rebif is taken 3 x week sub Q and Avonex is 1x intermuscular. > Rebif and Avonex are basically same chemically but Rebif is much more potent, > maybe because it is taken 3x and probably why you feel like crap all the time. > Neuro told me that I would be protected from Rebif up to 3 months after I > stop.(Protected from what????)
