Jeanne,

Youmight TRY speaking to the manager of the store, or the PIC (pharmacist in

charge) if you have not already! IF you asked a clerk or a tech, I hate to say

this but sometimes they 'lie' because they have a friend who wants the job, or

they are going for the job, or they tell you to go to the electronic app because

they just don't know any better. Another thing you can do is TRY to follow up

with a cover letter and a SHORT (but detailed with real punch) resume to the PIC

or the area manager etc.

Good luck, and remember persistence can pay off.

I choose CVS because of location. Close to the house and close to the

college where I plan on taking their nursing program. They also have a

huge sign outside advertising for Cert Pharm Tech. I thought how

perfect is this. Then I went in and found out I had to do an

electronic application and they do not except resumes for my position.

They only take resumes for the management position. Anyways, I ended

up applying online. I was really disappointed with the application

process. It doesn't ask if you are certified for one. When it comes to

the High School diploma or GED it is put into one question. Then you

move on to how many years you attended High School and where. There

was no way to communicate etc anything other then what was asked.

Without a Resume option I am unable to sell myself at all. :(

It to bad they do not have an option where you can make some comments

after you filled out the application. Maybe up to a few 1000 words.

Jeanne;

Unfortunately that's how some of these " corporate " settings do.

Basically I have told some of the new grad students to just go to

their corporate office and fill out the application there or even

call the corporate office and speak to someone there. Sadly to say

that I think sometimes they don't read them or they don't get them

electronically. I too have submitted on line and no response either.

Good luck in your search and nursing school.

Hi Jeanne,

What they are looking at first on your application is the " test " you took. It

asked t/f questions such as " I enjoy being part of a team. " and " I like to help

other people. " The answers you gave to those questions are scored like a test

and your given a percentage grade for each section. I forget exactly what

they're called now but I think there are a 2 main sections titled something like

reliability and working with others. (I can find out the exact titles later.)

The applications come back to company with suggestions about the applicant based

on how those questions were answered. The scoring company might say something

like - applicant is likely to argue with customers or applicant is likely to

show up late to work for someone with a low score. Anyway along with the

percentage score you are give a red yellow or green light. Any one who scores

in the red is not hireable. Two yellow scores may be accepted if they're high

yellow (70% for example). Green scores are always ac

cepted. I find that a lot of applicants don't take the time to really read

these questions. I get so many applications with low yellow or red scores. And

to be quite honest, if an applicant can't work well with others or doesn't like

to help people they really shouldn't be looking to retail pharmacy for a job.

So the pharmacy takes the application first and looks at those scores. From

those scores in the applicant pool the hireable applicants will be called in for

an interview. At the interview is where you would bring your resume and your

certification information and sell yourself.

I would call the pharmacy and ask to speak with the pharmacist in charge. Do

this on a weekend when they are less likely to be busy. Don't call on a Monday

or Friday. Tell the PIC you submitted an on-line application and ask if they

recieved it. Tell him/her you would like to stop by and submit a resume to go

along with your application. Most of the time persistence pays off. And it

also shows the PIC that you are willing to take the initiative to get something

done. Passivity isn't the best quality to have in a busy pharmacy.

Good luck,
