Dear All,

Yep!

Ethics

Federal Law - recall when given a scenario of state vs federal, the most

stringent ( strict) law will apply

and

Math - All types of pharmacy math, billing, pricing, IV, TPN, grain, metric,

household, etc

and then

Drugs: aka Pharmacology

-uses (which disease states),

-indications: how to use the drug for a specific patient or UAD usual adult

dose.

-contraindications: when not to use this drug

-common side effects and toxic effect

-common drug interactions

-common auxiliary labels

-storage and handling

-unusual information about a specific drug

Practice:

drug label in formation

expiration dates see laws

unit dose system

customer service

compounding terms and procedures

prioritizing

Aseptic Technique

much more

Know Laws Regarding:

Recalls

Labeling

Poison Act

Controlled Substance Act

Pure Food and Drug Act 1906

Food Drug and Cosmetic Act 1938

Humphrey Act 1961 to name a few

Ethics

Be able to compare scenarios and choose the with the most or least ethics

Code of Ethics

What techs can and can not do by law.

What you will know if you are experienced is specific procedures and storage and

handling, customer service.

If you are not a tech at the time you take the exam or if you have never

volunteered to work in a pharmacy via school externship or otherwise (no

experience) then you probably will not be able to answer a few questions

regarding storage and handling or procedures. But there are many more questions

that you CAN answer and still pass.

I hope this has helped.

Respectfully,

im taking the test on saturday too and ive read a lot on the

internet that the test focuses a lot on the math. some people who took

the test think that the math quesions are even weighed more than the

other questions. ive been cramming this whole week trying to get as

much info as possible stuck in my brain. i have the abbreviations, and

law part down pretty much. im a math wiz so the math is a breeze for

me, ive been studying it all day. its just the drugs that get me. i

only know about 100 or so of the fast movers. ill be studying more of

those tomorrow along with the nomenclature. but my suggest is be really

strong in math. then use common sense for the rest. and study the law

aspect of it a lot.
