Guest guest
Yes, both ears. I wear " in the ear " hearing aids that aren't very obvious - most people don't even realize they're there until I ask them to repeat what they said. Question for everyone - I'm about to get my second set of hearing aids (over the next two years). I've hear that " behind the ear " aids might allow me to have some kind of directional microphone that would help in a meeting. Has anyone heard of or used such a device? Guest guest
Matt, I have a behind the ear hearing aid an thinking of going to a in the ear. Are yours in the ear canal or just in the ear? I think they make directional microphone for in the ear from what I have read on line. I can tell you that behind the ear, bte, is very uncomfortable and very noticeable. Since I am a female I can hide it with my hair. I hate it though and am going to get one that is in the ear... Maybe you just need more power and volume opposed to BTE... Let me know how you make out! Amber"

Guest guest
Thanks Amber, Mine are just " in the ear " - in the canal seemed a bit too delicate for my fumbling hands. I'll let you folks know if/when I get the directional microphones and if they work. Matt amber krasny wrote: > Matt, > I have a behind the ear hearing aid an thinking of going to a in the > ear. Guest guest
Hi , I consider myself very fortunate to not need a hearing aid. I have had 2 Cholesteatoma removal surgeries, one on each ear. In my left ear, the Cholesteatoma had caused so much damage that to remove it, all of the inner ear bones also had to be removed. Fortunately, the surgeon who did this work was very skilled, and was able to insert a prosthesis inside my ear to replace the bones at the time of the original surgery. The prosthesis has enabled me to have a reasonable quality of hearing in that ear. In my right ear, the cholesteatoma was diagnosed early enough that the damage was not so extensive. I wasn't taking any chances though, so I sought out the best Neuro-Otologist within 300 miles of me, and I had him perform the removal. Although there was a slight damage to the ear bones, I still have reasonable hearing in my right ear. My advice to you would be to have a pretty lengthy discussion with your surgeon to assess your options. But the short answer to your question is, yes it is possible to have a cholesteatoma removed and not need a From: Hills <dhillz81@...>Subject: RE: advicecholesteatoma Date: Sunday, May 18, 2008, 10:08 PM Does anyone who has had the cholesteatoma removal wall down surgery NOT have to wear a hearing aid in the affected ear? Guest guest
Hello , I had a canal wall down surgery in 2002. I do not wear a hearing aid... but my hearing on my right ear is ok (for now). A hearing aid is a personal choice, unless both of your ears are affected. I had reconstruction surgery 4 years ago. The surgeon inserted a Titanium prosthesis, (TORP) and it brought my 75db (loss) to between 30 and 50 db. I can hear a dial tone, but it isn't great. There are so many advances in this type of surgery, and of course a hearing aid is a viable option. If I also had hearing loss in my good ear, I think I would definitely use a hearing aid. Guest guest
Hello,I had my C-toma surgery in 1998 and was left with two bones removed and a hole in the eardrum. I just got my hearing tested and it is around a 60 db hearing loss in the right ear. I don't wear a hearing aid and i can hear fine out of my left ear. It is difficult sometimes in groups and crowds knowing who just shouted your name, but you get used to it. I also am exploring a BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid) to help the right ear hear better. I'll know more about the BAHA after my first consult wiht my ENT. I can keep you updated on that if you wish, or there is plenty of information about different kinds of hearing aids about. Guest guest
I think this is a sign that you need to start thyroid hormone replacement again. Hopefully, you have boosted your adrenals sufficiently for your thyroxine to start working properly. All you can do is to give it a try. Guest guest
Hi, After 3 weeks nearly all the T4 is out of your system which unless you are taking other thyroid meds, is why you are tired. It is more usual to only stop thyroid meds for a few day (less than a week)while taking adrenal supplements, before starting thyroid meds again. Guest guest
Yes, you're making wrong choices if you're not losing. I go to WW because their food plans are close to what bandsters need. Do NOT tell them you're banded, as some will be very hostile to that. I find the support good. Of course you need to adapt things in some cases. Look back at messages for the last week or so on the website as this topic was just recently the subject of an extensive discussion. I don't know much about JC, and would need to know a lot more about it. But if they're one that wants to sell you food, don't go there. They're mainly in the food selling business, and one of the things we bandsters need to learn is how to live " like normal people " without prepackaging. Guest guest
Well all I can say is never do any thing that you have never been taught to do without checking with your pharmacist to LEARN either how to do it or NOT to do it at all. But since you have worked in pharmacy before you probably already know this. ASK what is the policy and procedure if there is a 'robbery' or a possible 'fraud' or fake script. KNOW all procedures as best as possible. Guest guest
Hi and I did have a racing heart when I became dizzy but wondered if it was me panicking a little. The higher temp was at lunch time. However, at bedtime last night my temp was 36.9 so I missed my armour dose. I will see how i feel today and may cut back half a grain to 1 and a half. I take 2 NAE a day at 11am as advised by dr P but I think I will up this for the next few days and then maybe try to increase the armour again. Lizzie did you feel like you had a racing heart ? or did you have anxiety ... also did you have the feeling of sudden low blood sugar levels. I'm asking 'cos it's easy to confuse just going over your sweet spot with your adrenals having trouble keeping up. I've found too that slightly increased temps can indicate this.... was your increased temp around mid day (and what was your temp before getting out of bed)?
