Guest guest
I'don;t know the answer to your questions, but I would love to know. My sister was denied disability becuase none of the doctors noted his cognitive abilites. She certainly cannot hold down a job with her ever changing ability to comprehend things from one hour to the next. it has been recommended that she have these tests to and have been told that it would help her in her appeal process for disability. Please let me know what you find out and by the way, ehose paying for the test? Debbie Russo > I have applied for disability due to my MS. Guest guest
None of my doctors noted cognitive problems either...although I certainly mentioned it. However, I noted it as one of the chief problems I had that prevented me from returning to the same level of employment I had previously. I also enclosed a copy of my resume to prove what I had done before. The state has set up the tese, and is paying for it...plus travel and any other expenses. I suggest your sister proceed with the appeal, attach her resume, letters from former employers...etc. to attest to the work she did prior, and request the state provide this testing. Good Luck. What state are you in? I am in Kentucky Jim > > I have applied for disability due to my MS. One of the issues I > have > > listed as a disability is cognative difficulties. The cognition test are pretty straight forward. Whatever you sister does, DO NOT GO TO THESE TEST WELL RESTED!!! Try to get them set up as late as possible and have already had a busy day. The point is NOT for them to see her at her best, but what she would be like most of the way through an 8 hour work day. BTW, don't tell THEM that she did it this way either! Good luck, Doug
Guest guest
JIM- I WAS APPROVED FOR SS BENEFITS THE FIRST TIME AROUND. THEY HAVE VERY SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS WHEN IT COMES TO MS - AND I'M GOING TO TRY TO FIND THE WRITE-UP. FATIGUE IS THE BIGGEST ISSUE. I LEFT A BIG COMPANY AND DIDN'T KNOW UNTIL I SPOKE WITH A LAWYER THAT THE COMPANY WOULD PAY FOR THE LEGAL WORK. THESE ARE THE THINGS NO ONE TELLS YOU. I'LL LOOK FOR MY INFO - AND TO THIS DATE, I'VE NEVER HAD TO HAVE AN EXAM. BESTAUNT
Guest guest
Thank you for any insights you can give. I am very nervous about this exam. I have heard so many stories about how every roadblock is thrown up to keep you from getting SS benefits. I sent them two very detailed answers to the questionnaires they sent me. I am surprised that they would choose the cognitive issues to test. I just hope that it doesn't mean that they have ruled against me on all other counts and this is the only one left to refute. If you could find the criteria write up, it would really help. Thank you again. Jim At 09:46 AM 5/15/2004, you wrote: JIM- I WAS APPROVED FOR SS BENEFITS THE FIRST TIME AROUND. Guest guest
HI JIM- I SAW THAT - 3 OUT OF 6 PAGES. IT REALLY WAS ONLY 3 PAGES. NOW I'M SENDING 10 MORE - WRITTEN BY THE LAWYER I USED. I THINK HE'S GREAT. DO YOU HAVE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS? I DO REMEMBER TALKING TO SOMEONE WHO DID GO THROUGH THE COGNITIVE TESTING. IT'S SO UNFAIR - EACH DAY CAN BE SO DIFFERENT. IF I FIND OUT MORE, I'LL LET YOU KNOW. BESTAUNT
