Vulvodynia

Description

Unremitting Pain and burning of the Vulva.

Prevalence

Approximately 0.1% of females are afflicted with Vulvodynia.

These Substances can Cause Vulvodynia

Organic Acids

Excessive dietary consumption of Oxalic Acid is implicated in Vulvodynia -

females

afflicted with Vulvodynia were found to have higher levels of Oxalic Acid in

their Urine.

AVOID Dietary Sources of Oxalic Acid

All plants contain some Oxalic Acid.

The Oxalic Acid levels of various Foods are notoriously difficult to

measure - different reference to the same

foods can vary in their listing of Oxalic Acid content by up to 5,000 %.

Dietary Oxalic Acid is not necessarily detrimental as the toxic effects of

Oxalic Acid are primarily to due to

malfunctions in the body's internal metabolism of Oxalic Acid

(Hyperoxaluria) causing increased retention of

endogenous and exogenous Oxalic Acid.

Dietary Oxalic Acid does increase urinary Oxalate excretion, although the

increase in excretion between a low

and high Oxalic Acid diet is small.
