For those of you interested in UDO's oil, here is a message Karma

sent out 6 weeks ago talking about UDO's. I thought you might want

to see some of the other potential benefits of the product in addition

to what Tami and others have already stated.

[aSANEsationalYOU] EFA's: the good fats! From: Soli1313@...Hello Again! This post is the continuation of yesterday's 2 part post titled "GainingEssential Health." This post talks about fat. The good kind. :)If this would be the LAST post I could ever post for you, this would be it.This kind of information gets me so excited, I lose sleep! But then, I getexcited about calcium articles, so that doesn't say much. But really! This isgood stuff. And some of this information is going to go completelyagainstyour whole weight loss belief system. The information you read below will affect you in some way, because ofthemany good things essential fatty acid's do. After reading how importantit isfor your body, you will probably think that you need to add this to yourdiet. To whet your whistle, essential fatty acids lower the glycemic index offoods, help acne AND dry skin, increase energy, lift depression, buildmuscle, (the lack thereof) explains postpartum depression, eases withdrawalsymptoms and, And, AND helps with fat reduction, to only name a few.I have heard for years about the importance of essential fatty acids, butdidn't give them that much thought until I read a brief article about 7months ago regarding the sorry state of children's eating habits. And howtheir diets lack or are completely devoid of EFA's (essential fatty acids). But what grabbed me was their utter importance in children's braindevelopment. So, I got a little scared knowing that my children were notgetting any EFA's. I did some research, and found a balanced EFA blendalled Udo's Perfected Oil Blend, recommended by the health food stores Irequent.Since I have a 1 and 4 year old, I immediately started adding this oil totheir food and juice, which was in February, about the same time I>switchedto mostly organic fruits and vegetables. What I find VERY interesting is that at their doctor checkups, which were 1month apart, in ONE MONTH my 1 year old boy grew 1-1/2 inches, and my 4 yearold daughter grew one inch. IN ONE MONTH!The stunned nurse hypothetically asked what I was putting in their water. SoI told her, "Udo's Blend EFA's, plus I switched to organic foods." Shelooked at me as if I were speaking a different language, so I dropped thesubject. Coincidence? Maybe. But I'm not a-changin a thing!! Anyway, here is the lowdown on EFA's (essential fatty acids):ESSENTIAL FATS95% of the population does not get the right kind of fats to keephealthy. With fat phobia and lowfat diets on the upsweep, the problem is gettingworse. In the last 10 years we've lowered fat intake from 42% of calories to 35%,but obesity has increased from 20% to 33% of the population during thattime. And health is not improving. If we lack essential fats, our body falls apart. Literally. Why? Because allcells, tissues, organs, systems and glands must have it to work. The short summary is:Optimum health requires an optimum essential fat supply. We must have ouressential fats. And forget about their calories. ESSENTIAL fats don'tmakeyou fat. Sugars and starches do. More on that later. Essential fats increase energy, improve stamina and performance, build muscle, improve circulation and speed recovery and healing. This holds true for athletes, performance animals, the chronically tired, those too tired to stay fit, older people, those with degenerative conditions, and many others. Some people notice increased energy within 3 days, but it may takelonger. Essential fats are required for growth, cell division and hemoglobin production. They build strong bones.Essential fats improve brain development and brain function. They elevatemood, lift depression, improve behavior, motor coordination, vision and theability to learn, and increase IQ. They calm down hyperactive kids, adults, criminals, and animals. And improve how we deal with stress. Not bad forafat! Our brain which is 60% fat makes us all fat heads. :) That's a compliment! Essential fats also make up a large part of nerves and eyes. Essential fats are nature's secret for good skin, hair and nails. They help with eczema, psoriasis, acne, dandruff, cracked heals and itchy skin. They help prevent hair loss, poor nail growth, dehydration and dry skin. They replace moisturizers, creams and lotions at a fraction of the cost ofcosmetics without irritating the skin.Essential fats improve digestive function, protect good bowel bacteriaandenhance oil soluble food flavors. (One reason why lowfat foods taste likecardboard.) They help prevent leaky gut, yeast overgrowth, bloating and foodallergies. They ease withdrawal from drugs, alcohol and tobacco. Essential fats protect us from damage from oil soluble toxins in pesticides, and help us sweat them out. Optimums of essential fats protect us from damage by saturated fats. Then we can eat butter, sour cream or whipping creamin moderation without fear. Essential fats lower the glycemic index of foods, slow down glucose absorption, improve insulin function, prevent high sugar/low sugar blues, and helps diabetics and hypoglycemics.Essential fats support liver, kidneys, heart and lungs and make hormonalglands -- like adrenals and thyroid work better.**Important: EF's are required for sperm formation and are key to women'sand children's health. An unborn child draws essential fats from its motherto build its brain. As a result, women are depleted of them, and each childgets less than the preceding one.EF's depletion helps explain postpartum depression, the higher intelligenceof oldest children, behavioral and developmental problems of youngerchildren in large families, and women's greater incidence of depression, MS,lupus, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and inflammatory bowel disease. ALLBECAUSE OF DEPLETION.EF's lower high triglycerides and blood pressure, cardiovascular riskfactors. They decrease clot formation and the likelihood of heart attacks, strokes and embolisms. And prevent heart beat abnormalities that can lead tocardiac arrest. One reason why lowfat diets can be dangerous. EF's do not reliably lower cholesterol. Water soluble mucilage fiberdiscussed later is more effective. In addition, EF's can help in a hostofother situations including infections, inflammation including joint pain, auto immune conditions and mineral as well as protein metabolism. Finally, essential fats HELP with fat reduction! Why? They increaseenergyand calorie burning, make us feel like being more active, prevent overeatingby lifting depression, reduce cravings, suppress appetite, help ourkidneydump water held in our tissues, are anti inflammatory and make us feelbetter.Proof of weight loss?11 lbs lost in 7 days using 10 T, or 140 grams daily made national radio inNorway.80 lbs in 6 months on 3 T per day made one woman happy w/o media fanfare.30-50 lbs in a year, using 3-5 T/day is common in people who need to reducebody fat. Most overweight people avoid fats, and crave bread, cakes, cookies, crackers, potatoes, corn, cereals, donuts, muffins, wheat/rye/barley/oat grainproducts, pasta, yams, chips, high carb junk foods, sugar, honey, all syrupsand other sweet stuff. To reduce body fat, eat more greens, get optimum good fats and proteins, andeat less carbs. Get more fiber, enzymes and probiotics, and take amineral/vitamin supplement. Moderation! When using Udo's blend: (We take the liquid.)We need more EF's than oil capsules supply.Optimum: 2-10 T is 28-140 big 1 gram capsules.Seems like a lot of oil? For health, no. 1T is about 5% of daily calories, for nonathletic adults.10T is about 50%. Eskimo people got up to 60% of calories, from unprocessed, essential fat rich oil, and their deaths were not fat related. Most people's daily optimum, indicated by clear, nice skin, falls between2-5 T.Dry skin is nature saying, "eat more essential fats."Capsules can be added to infant formulas, taken to work or on trips.Enhances flavor and food value of fruit, starches, proteins andvegetables -- improving digestion and absorption of their phytonutrients. The blend can be used in cold, warm and hot foods, but should never be fried.Use the blend in salad dressings, soups, steamed veggies, veggie juices anddips, corn or mashed potatoes, instead of butter, oatmeal, cereals, grainsand pasta.(If you get fat, blame the carbs. Remember, that it's important to eatenough carbohydrates for fuel. Anything over that is stored as fat.)Mix it with yogurt, protein, shakes, cottage cheese, fruit juice (we callthis an oil shooter), and whole fruit. Can mix in yolk of soft boiled eggs.Mixing it 50/50 w/ butter or extra virgin olive oil improves theiressential fat profile.Be sure you get the right kind, ratio and amount of fats in your dailyhealth plan.In case you were wondering: Udo's choice perfected (or ultimate) oil blend, contains flax for omega-3, and sunflower and sesame for omega-6 essentialfats. The blend is twice richer in omega-3 than omega-6. Rich and oatgermoils provide important minor ingredients. Unrefined evening primrose oil addGLA. In addition, contains MCT, the good stuff in coconut fat, GMO freelecithin, and natural vitamin E -- mixed alpha, beta and gamma tocopherols. This has a balance of the EFA's we need.My husband and I take 2 T. of Udo's a day. I also sprinkle 1 T. of smashed flax seed on my food a day. My way of eating consists of 70% food combining, low dairy, about 4-8+ cups of raw vegetables a day, and over 1 gallon of water a day. I eat more freshfood than I do concentrated food. (If you want more details of my way ofeating, email me --Soli1313@... -- and I will be happy to send it to you.)People on this list have lost weight because of adding EFA's to their diet. In the first two weeks of my taking Udo's, I lost another 1/2 dress size. So, I guess I can reasonably sign off by saying:May the Good Fats Be With You!JaneenaSANEsationalYOU co-creator

Dear Winnie,

I can really relate! I was a carb addict, too! And have been

overweight my whole life. My hair turned out not be dandruff but

psoriasis and I had those bumps on my arms, too! The List had a few

posts about dry brushing the skin all over the body: go to search

this archive and you'll find several posts. I bought a brush ( I got

mine at Wal Mart..cocoa fiber) and do it every day before my shower

and my skin is SO much better! It exfoliates to some degree but also

stimulates the skin to produce or distribute its own oils so much

better. In a manner for my hair I dry brush with a natural bristle

brush in little circles so as not to tangle and it seems the flakes

are much much less... and the itch as well.

I hope this helps you...we ARE going to be thin and strong and

healthy!

Love and Pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! (hmm, not up to 100,

yet! ;>)

Dear Libby

That will help me alot. My dandruff might be psoriasis too. How did you find

out it was psoriasis? I know that a lot of the shampoos I use do not work very

well.

Winnie :)

Winnie, my husband has flaky scalp, around his eyebrows, nose and in his beard. I started him using a shampoo and conditioner from Nioxin. these are only available through a salon. They were designed for ppl with fine thinning hair, but I found that the shampoo called Bionutrient cleanser for chemically treated hair, and the Scalp Therapy( the conditioner) kept his flaking at a minimum.

He even washes his face with it, and uses the Scalp Therapy on his face. It is very moisturizing, very minty and clean and pungent. It is not cheap but worth it. I hope this helps.

Dear Winnie,

I found out it was psoriasis from 2 sources: my grandmother had it

and we had similar skin and an alert hairdresser who KNEW my hair

wasn't oily really looked at my scalp and discovered it was almost

peeling from the " scales " ...ugh! sounds yucky! I had my hair trimmed

today and it makes me look like I have SUCH a wide face now!But my

hair is in MUCH better condition, now.

love and pahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Winnie, i thought of something else. Find a chiropractor who carries the Energique line of homeopathic products, they have a shampoo called Psoragel. It worked great too but that particular chiropractor moved to the west side of the city, we live on the outside of the east side. Good luck, a Pau D' Arco product may work well too. W
