Guest guest
Hello all, I confess to being a green tea addict, but would like to say that drinking a lot of tea before and after mealtimes has given me an iron deficiency. Now I make sure tea consumption is at least 1 hour from meal times. It seems that cocoa and coffee also have this effect, though a bit less. So perhaps extracts of green tea should also be far from meals if you are at all iron deficient. On the other hand one of the benefits of green tea is its ability to absorb iron in those people who build it up as excess iron is thought to be a major cause of free radical damage. my two cents worth.. best wishes to all MM _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
Hello again, Forgot to add. As a tea lover I have found that green tea MUST be fresh. That is hard to get in USA, and nobody puts dates of harvests on the teas as that would expose old tea- which would condem most of the stuff they sell as tea. They do put an expiry date, but I would move that up at least 5 years as most of the bagged stuff sold in supermarkets and health stores is glorified cardboard. Loose fresh green tea should taste somewhat sweet, nutty and fresh. Without adding anything. Also very important: brew at 80 degrees, or when the bubbles just start to rise in the pan. And brew for 1 minute for Japanese teas (senchas etc) and 2 minutes for Chinese teas. Oolongs can take 2 1/2 minutes as they are semi oxidized. I think the best bet is to find an internet source for green tea. I tried Upton and wasn't satisfied with the freshness. Anyone with suggestions? Anyone with friends born in Asia (preferably Japan which has a great green tea culture!) who are green tea lovers-where do They buy their tea? If I can find some addresses I'll post them here. best to all, MM _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected?
