Yeah, I heard that one too Judith at the Atkins Friends site

today....geez I was depressed when I was FAT! But I guess if your

starving yourself or not eating your veggies, I can see how some may

get moody.

I also try to get out as much as possible in the sunshine and fresh

air everyday, this really helps boost my spirit up, especially in the

winter months.

I'm living healthy, body, soul and mind ;)

I also feel super, both physically and mentally, in doing Atkins properly.

However, many if not most people have an adjustment period during which they

are detoxing from the high carbs and switching their metabolism over to

ketonic process. Can take

2-3 days to " come off " of sugar and wheat - and it can be like detoxing from

other addicitons. I had eaten a raw foods diet for years prior to starting

low-carb, so didn't have any sugar addiciton to counteract. Atkins also

suggests cutting out caffeine " cold " starting with induction day one, and

for folks who are detoxing from caffeine as well as sugar and wheat, it can

be a rough ride. Once the detox is over and the new metabolic pathway is

established, most folks have super energy and are far happier in general

than prior to Atkins. Joy

And on Atkins there is no reason to starve. I couldn’t stand being hungry all

the time as I was when I tried the low cal way years

ago.

Isn’t it interesting that they seldom compare Atkins to any other diet. They

just say when you “go off” Atkins you regain plus. They

never waste their time saying that that is true of all diet.

When I first started Atkins back in the 1970’s it was on a Monday. By Friday I

was so miserable I was ready to pitch it. Told myself

that I’d stick it out over the weekend and if things didn’t change I was done.

Got up that Monday morning in a brand new body and mind. It was super!

When people say that Atkins makes one feel “moody” or “miserable” they are

referring only to those first few days. And not the great

feelings that come after.

Ever notice how many Atkins detractors have not even read the book? If they did

they would know the things they were writing were

lies. But then there’s always the $ $ $ $ $ aspect, too.
